Finance Ministry makes AIIMS donation tax-free

New Delhi: In a bid to encourage more donors to the country’s top most health institution, the finance ministry,on Monday, declared fund donation to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as tax-free.

Accordingly to the ministry of finance, those who donate fund to AIIMS will now get 100 percent income tax deduction of donated amount from their taxable income.

The decision was taken after AIIMS was notified as the institute of national eminence by income tax authority, under Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance.

AIIMS was recently given a notification certificate by the income tax department.

The institution in a statement said that the notification would not only help to attract more philanthropic funds for the patient care services in the institute but also promote this national institute of excellence in the area of medical education and research in the country with having such a financial support from the philanthropic funds.

New Delhi, June 2, 2017: “Sachin: A Billion Dreams”, the docu-drama on batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s life and Irrfan Khan-starrer “Hindi Medium” have been declared tax-free in the national capital.

The Entertainment Tax Branch of the Delhi government issued orders yesterday, giving both movies a tax-free status here.

“Sachin: A Billion Dreams” has been written and directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka. It has been already declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

“Hindi Medium”, also starring Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, is also tax-free in Delhi, after being exempted of entertainment tax in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Directed by Saket Chaudhary, “Hindi Medium” is a satire on education system of the country where studying in English medium schools is considered a status symbol. (IANS)

New Delhi March 6, 2017: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday handed over to the Tamil Nadu government the reports regarding the five visit made by its specialists to Chennai to give expert advise when former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa was hospitalised prior to her death.

“AIIMS handed over the five visit reports regarding the health condition of Late Hon’ble Chief Minister Tamil Nadu to Government of Tamil Nadu,” said an official statement.

According to the authorities, the papers were handed over by V. Srinivas, AIIMS Deputy Director (Administration), to J. Radhakrishnan, Principal Secretary of Tamil Nadu’s health department.

At the request of Tamil Nadu government for expert medical advise, the AIIMS had deployed a team of senior specialists to visit Chennai five times between October 5, 2016 and December 6, under the leadership of G.C. Khilnani, Professor in the Department of Pulmonology.

The Tamil Nadu government had requested AIIMS on March 5, 2017 for handing over the visit notes of the AIIMS delegation to Chennai for their official records. (IANS)
