Chicago Arya Samaj organizes Vishwa Kalyan Mahayajna

Arya Samaj of Chicago (Illinois) recently organized "Vishwa Kalyan Mahayajna" at Arya Samaj Centre in West Chicago, USA.

The programme was a two day affair and was conducted on the 25th and 26th of July. The programme saw approximately 150 people in attendance each day. Dr. Somdev Acharya and Shri Dharam Pal Shastri Ji were the guests of honor for the program.

People from different suburbs of Chicago along with many people from various other cities across America, like New York, as well as people from the Carribbean country of Guyana were in attendance.

Arya Samaj of Chicago is a religious, charitable, educational & non-profit organization and is the American chapter of the Indian Arya Samaj. The organization aims at promoting vedic culture among the NRIs of America.

The "Havan" or Yajna took place on both the days and everyone present participated in it by giving "ahooti".

On Saturday, 25th July, Shrimati Vinod Saxena enlightened the audience with her speech about the "Aim of Life".

On Sunday, 26th July 2015, Dr. Ved Prakash Nanda, Professor at University of Denver, was the speaker. The speeches were followed by bhajans by Mrs. Minoo Purushottam, whose melodious voice captivated the audience and successfully created a pious ambiance.

The chief guest of the occasion was Shri Sahib Singh, Advisor (in the rank of State Minister) to the Department of Animal Husbandry, government of Uttar Pradesh. Also present was Swami Parnavanand Ji who also enchanted the audience through his speech.

The keynote address was delivered by Shri Satyapal Singh, MP and former Commissioner of Mumbai Police.

The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Sukhdev Soni, who also presented mementos and gifts to the chief guests and guests of honour.

Aarti and Jaighosh followed the vote of thanks, after which the prasad was distributed. The programs were concluded with a delicious lunch on both the days.
