Delhi government sends DCW chief’s appointment file to LG’s office

The absurd position of Swati Maliwal as the chief of Delhi Commission for Women is finally to be resolved.

During a press conference today at the Delhi Secretariat, Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia said that a file has been sent to Lt. Governor's office.

"The centre is unnecessarily trying to make an issue out of nothing. However, to not create a needless issue, we have sent the file to LG's office " the AAP minister said.

The appointment of DCW's chief had started a new skirmish between Delhi and central governments.

The AAP government had appointed Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women, without consulting Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung. The move had brought the anti-corruption crusading party under severe fire from the opposition.

Meanwhile the Delhi Commission of Women office at Vikas Bhawan has been open and running under the new chief.

Rubbishing the talks of commission being closed on LG's orders, authorities at DWC said, "The office is open and functioning as always. This issue is a minor glitch and will be resolved shortly."

Affirming Sisodia's claim, LG's office said that the file has been received.

"We have received the file today and due official process will follow."
