Fire kills 10 workers in Jammu


Jammu: Ten people were killed in an overnight fire in Ramban district of Jammu region, police said on Friday.

An overnight fire in Ramban district in Jammu killed at least 10 people on Friday. Police further said Chanderkote camp was the origin of fire where residing workers died due to asphyxiation and burn injuries.

Senior Superintendent of Police Randip Kumar told reporters that five bodies identified so far include earth mover operators, helpers, and laborers from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and different places of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The exact cause of fire is being ascertained. I reached the spot immediately after receiving reports about the incident and the fire was brought under control,” he added.
