Largest Indian Community School in Sharjah (UAE) to inaugurate a New Branch, to ease Space and Pressure for Admission in the existing School

Sharjah, Dec 17, 2016: The largest Indian community school in Sharjah (UAE), Sharjah Indian School, will be inaugurating a new branch to ease the space and pressure for admission in the existing school. The new branch will be inaugurated on 22nd December by Pinarayi Vijayan, CM of Kerala. The CM is making his first visit to UAE.

The new school is built in the Juwaiz area of Sharjah near Sajaa. The One million square feet land was given on a nominal lease by Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, and Sharjah Ruler. The school will have 160 classrooms, mentioned Khaleej Times.

According to the officials of Indian Association of Sharjah, the new branch will be an all boys school while the old Sharjah Indian School will have all the girl students. Boys from the old school will be accommodated in the new school. The two schools will work separately.

Advocate YA Rahim, President of Indian Association Sharjah, told Khaleej Times that the project started one and half years ago. "For two years we could not give any new admissions in the Sharjah Indian School, which is already under pressure for space. The New Sharjah Indian School will accommodate 12,000 students when the two phases are completed. In the first phase, it will accommodate 6000 students for the next academic year," Rahim told KT.

"The work was granted for Dh 44.3 million contract. It is ready for opening for the next academic year. About 90 percent of the work is completed. The boy students from Sharjah Indian School will be shifted to the new school and we will have more space for girls," said Biju Soman, General Secretary of IAS. "Now the school is running on shift system for the first and second classes and the shift system will cease from next academic year. About 4000 new students will be able to get admission in the new school as well as the existing school."

The Sharjah Indian School was originally started to accommodate 800 students. With the help and generosity of Sharjah ruler, the school had gradually expanded in different phases. Dr Sultan has always encouraged new initiatives in the education for the community.
