Naga People’s Front (NPF) condemns Manipur blast at the residence of its party candidate

Kohima, March 3, 2017: The Naga People's Front (NPF) on Friday condemned the act of some unidentified persons exploding a bomb at the residence of its party candidate contesting in the Manipur assembly elections.

Eight persons were injured on Thursday when two unidentified persons triggered a powerful improvised explosive device at the residence of NPF candidate K. Leishiyo at Langol Laimanai Lanthungching.

Leishiyo is contesting the ensuing election from Phungyar assembly constituency.

"Such a mindless act of terror is most detestable and should be condemned by one and all," an NPF statement said, appealing to all sections of the society to ensure free and peaceful polling and campaigning in the true spirit of matured democracy and not to indulge in any act of violence.

The NPF said that while expressions of differences of opinions and views on public platforms are accepted norms of democracy, resorting to violent activities to convey one's point of view is most unbecoming in a progressive society.

The NPF also urged the concerned authorities to get to the bottom of the whole episode so as to bring the perpetrators to book without delay. (IANS)
