I have compiled a list of tips and advice for a flourishing relationship without any difficulty.

The better way to deal with the problem is to face it squarely and try to solve it rather than keeping it in the heart and ruin the relationship. Try to be honest about your feelings and discuss them with the partner. The more you become open about your thoughts, the better.

(2) Communicate and Discuss

For the preservation of long-lasting relationships, avoid the barriers of communication. Try to be frank about everything and discuss that works for the betterment of both the partners.

(3) Develop Trust

The key to happiness is building trust in the relationship. Sharing secrets with the other person help to develop trust and loyalty. Be an open book.

(4) Respect Each Other

The other thing which is equally important as trust is respecting each others’ feelings. Try to avoid things that may hurt the other person. Give and take respect.

(5) Give Space

Keeping boundaries and setting permitting one another to have some privacy is also necessary. Read below to find out why:

The moment you realize that arguing is not constructive, step back and let it go.

  • Do not waste time on petty issues.
  • Detach and chill.
  • Take a deep breathe and shift the argument towards something positive.

    (8) Appreciate Each Other

Show your love through small things like hiding love notes around the house or bringing flowers. Appreciate and acknowledge the little things. Try to de-stress the other one by giving a warm massage or help her around the house chores. This will freshen up your relationship and ignite the fire of love.

If you have committed a mistake or done anything wrong, there’s no harm in accepting it. Similarly, if the person was wrong sometimes, learn to forgive. Never go to bed angry and learn to admit. This will make a huge difference in the long run.

Delhi-based author Pritisha Borthakur is set to release her new book, 'Puhor and Niyor's Mural of Family Stories'. The 1,404-word children's book was put together to address a new kind of societal debacle in the family system. The author says the aim is to teach children that families can exist in different forms, and show them how to accept the diversity in family backgrounds.

The author who named the book after her twin sons -- Puhor and Niyor -- is a parent who has seen and heard the tales of ridicule and discrimination suffered by many in India and beyond. She says the book is an artistic illustration for kids that details how different families can live and coexist. Whether it's children with two dads or two moms, children with a single dad or single mom, and even multiracial family units, Borthakur's book teaches love, understanding, and compassion towards unconventional families.

Beyond race, gender, color, and ethnicity which have formed the bases for discrimination since the beginning of time, this book aims to bring to light a largely ignored issue. For so long, single parents have been treated like a taboo without any attempt to understand their situations; no one really cares how or why one's marriage ended but just wants to treat single parents as villains simply for choosing happiness and loving their children.

Homosexual parents, a relatively new family system, is another form that has suffered hate and discrimination for many years. Pritisha emphasizes the need to understand that diversity in people and family is what makes the world beautiful and colourful.
