Ayurveda Suggests these Ayurvedic Face Masks For Winter Skin

With winter upon us, its essential to take care of dry skin.

As per Ayurveda, the cold nature of winter causes dry skin, cracked lips and heels. Partap Chauhan, Director, Jiva Ayurveda suggests Ayurvedic face masks that are simple to prepare and work wonders.

1. Papaya and Lemon Moisturizer

Papaya has amazing health and beauty benefits. It is loaded with vitamins A, C, E and K — all of which make your skin really soft and supple. It is also a good source of antioxidants. Also, it has a buttery consistency which makes it easy to use. Mash a ripe papaya and squeeze the juice of half a lemon in it and mix well. Apply this to your face and arms for 15 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water to get glowing and moisturized skin.

2. Hibiscus, Honey and Coconut Oil Anti-Ageing Mask

Hibiscus flower (gudhal) contains natural Alpha-hydroxy Acids (AHA) which makes the skin fresh and improves flexibility, which is why it is sometimes referred to as the botox plant. Boil a hibiscus flower in 2 cups of water until about half a cup remains. Now add honey and coconut oil to the mixture and apply on face and neck. Wash off with lukewarm water after 10-15 minutes. This mixture is a great moisturizer and exfoliator which leaves your skin supple, fresh and bright.

3. Orange-Yogurt Mask

Add half a cup of yogurt, add 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice and make a fine paste. Use this as a mask on your face, neck and arms for 20 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. This has mild bleaching effect which will peel off dead cells, dirt and sebum giving you a radiant skin. Orange juice also tones your skin and removes blemishes. (IANS)

Onion Juice:

Onions contain antibacterial properties that can help fight infection in the scalp. The sulfur in the onions can improve the circulation of blood which can help promote hair growth and prevent hair loss.

Extracting onion juice is quite simple. You simply need to grate an onion and then squeeze the grated onion into a container to extract its juice. You can add coconut oil to the juice for better results. After applying, leave it for around 30 minutes then shampoo your hair and rinse with normal water.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has soothing properties and it can help reduce the scalp inflammation and itchiness. It can boost hair growth.

To use it, extract aloe pulp and apply it on your scalp. Leave it for 45 minutes and then wash it off with normal water.

Amla / Indian Gooseberry

Vitamin-C deficiency can lead to hair fall and since amla is rich in vitamin-C, it can promote hair growth very easily. It not only strengthens the hair follicles but it also prevents premature greying of hair.

To extract amla juice, you need to follow the same procedure as you did to extract onion juice. You can add castor oil to amla juice for better hair growth. Leave it for an hour then wash it off with normal water.

  2. Exercise regularly
  3. Get a sleep of at least 6 hours and at most 8 hours.

  7. Avoid using heating elements and hairstyling products.
  8. Avoid stress and lead a happy life.
