September 8, 2017: Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are the only two actresses who feature in Forbes magazine’s list of top 10 Bollywood’s highest paid 2017 list, which is led by ‘Raees’ star Shah Rukh Khan who is No. 1 on the list.

Deepika Padukone ranks sixth in the Bollywood’s highest paid list with earnings of $11 million, while Priyanka Chopra shares the seventh spot with Deepika’s beau Ranveer Singh, with earnings of $10 million. Both actresses have made their Hollywood debuts.

As for Shah Rukh, he has left his contemporaries Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan behind, despite getting a lukewarm response with his last few films like “Fan”, “Dilwale” and “Jab Harry Met Sejal”. His endorsement deals and profitable productions helmed by his banner Red Chillies Entertainment, helped him make $38 million between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2017, before fees and taxes, reports forbes.com.

Not far behind him is Salman, who is ranked second in the Bollywood’s highest paid list with earnings of $37 million in the last one year.

Salman gained profits from the success of “Sultan” and “retains a slew of advertisements and a not-for-profit line of clothing and jewelry that benefits his Being Human Foundation”.

The Khans are followed by National Award winner Akshay, whose golden run at the Indian box office doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon.

The “Khiladi” star Akshay Kumar is listed at the third position in the Bollywood’s highest paid list with earnings of $35.5 million, with his hit films like “Rustom”, “Jolly LLB 2”, “Naam Shabana” and “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”.

Shah Rukh, Salman, and Akshay are also included in Forbes magazine’s World’s Highest Paid Actors 2017 list and ranked at eighth, ninth and 10th position respectively.

With the unprecedented success of “Dangal”, Aamir is ranked fourth in the list with collections of $12.5 million.

Actor Hrithik Roshan has rounded off the top five with earnings of $11.5 million. Hrithik’s 2016 film “Mohenjo Daro” bombed at the box office, however, the actor bounced back with “Kaabil” in 2017.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan ($9 million) and actor Ranbir Kapoor ($8.5 million) have been ranked ninth and 10th in the Bollywood’s highest paid list, reports forbes.com.

Earnings estimates are based on data from Box Office India, Box Office Mojo, and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders.

Together, Bollywood’s 10 highest paid actors banked a cumulative $183 million between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2017. (IANS)

Padmavati will probably release on December 1. Instagram.

New Delhi, November 15: Undoubtedly, anyone could have expected undefined tremors to arise again for a Sanjay Leela Bhansali project, ‘Padmavati’ starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor after the controversial yet blockbuster film, Goliyon ki Ras Leela-Ram Leela and Bajirao MastaniThe soon to-be released film is a historic depiction of Alauddin Khilji (played by Ranveer) and his lust to capture Chittorgarh as a means to own Rani Padmini, (played by Deepika). To prevent the villanous act, she and the rest of the women in the Chittorgarh fort committed jauhar as an act of self-immolation by not falling into the enemy’s trap. We’re sure the never-ending trouble that the Padmavati team seems to be in has kept you eyed on its updates.

PROTEST AGAINST ‘PADMAVATI’

Since the beginning, the not yet relaesed film, Padmavati has seen political interference from both the BJP and the Congress. Rajput group Karni Sena had been showing their strong resentment by all means that could be adopted be it beating up director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, vandalising the sets, and threatening to burn theatres that showed the film, every trick has been used to ensure an unsmooth run of the film on screens. They also destroyed the beautiful rangoli of Padmavati that led to furious Chittorgarh bandh.

Other political groups did not lose their accord with the historic film. A Congress leader, Pratap Singh Kachariya has demanded a ban on the film with a say that it distorts history.

While in Jaipur, ‘princess’ and BJP MLA Diya Kumari, a representer of both the glamorous and political sides of Jaipur’s ‘royal family’, also issued a similar opposing statement on Padmavati like the congress.

Haryana Health minister Anil Vij and former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shankersinh Vaghela also announced it’s plan to approach the state government for seeking a ban on the upcoming Bollywood movie ‘Padmavati’ by the Censor Board.

BJP leader hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Akhilesh Khandelwal, declared a reward of Rs 10,000 for the one who could slap the filmmaker of Padmavati, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with a shoe. He told the media that we, the citizens are responsible to protect the dignity and the history created by our forefathers.

SHRI RAJPUT KARNI SENA EXPOSED

The fake patriotism of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena was found out on investigation by the India Today team. They presented up a fake notion of being an an agent of a Bollywood production house who is planning to work on a fictional romance of the Mughal Era, to which the president of the Karni Sena group expressed no objection.

For a ‘meagre’ price of Rs 1.50 Crore, the Shri Rajput Karni Sena promised to enact an incident of vandalism, which would be recorded and advertised online for publicity.

WILL PADMAVATI HAVE A SMOOTH RELEASE?

Now, that’s the real and undefined question that we all are going to discover in the meantime. With roadblocks coming up continuously, we doubt whether the film will enshine like the previous blockbusters or leave the expectations of the audience in shatters. Well, after so much controversy, the film has surely gained enough audience attention giving you enough reasons to not miss it and watch it on the big screen. Maybe, that’s what they desired, publicity with lots of political intervention. In the words of Deepika Padukone, who beholds the role of Rani Padmini in Padmavati, “Nothing and no one can stop this film”, we hope the film, Padmavati ends up well at the box office with a smooth release.

Paradise Papers: The “loot” of Nation’s Wealth by the “ultra-rich” of the Country

India ranks 19th out of 180 countries in Paradise Papers.

India boasts of having one of the largest and expensive modern mansions in the world – second only to the palace built by Sultan of Brunei. That belongs none other than a filthy rich Mukesh Ambani. But very contrastingly, India has also often been disgraced for its maximum number of citizens who spend their nights, their weeks, their months and years in the open pavement even in the cutting cold of the winter. Yes, the country bears the burden of the largest number of poor people in the world – approximately 276 million people live below poverty line. What a vast difference between the haves – the super-rich, and the have-nots.

The “loot” of nation’s wealth by the “ultra-rich” of the country had been going on quietly until the German newspaper brought out to the open the details of Paradise Papers from Appleby, the Bermuda-based legal service provider. Needless to say, for the ultra-rich, the name of the game is “tax planning”, offshore finance, the creation of off-shore entities, et al. In the eyes of our authorities, it is about “deemed lapses in corporate governance, alleged fund diversion, irregularities in disclosure norms,” and so on. One wonders, in this scenario, what is at stake for the common man?

As for the common man, his humble “paradise” is being looted; his God-given right to share his due is throttled. His children’s chances to come up in life, if at all there are any, are choked. His right to a “fair living” is gradually drifting apart. Because the very means of his life is plundered by a few ultra-rich. On a wider outlook, at the national level, the country’s wealth is burgled and robbed. Then who are these plunderers?

There are more than 700 of them from our country in the disclosed list of having Paradise Papers– the disclosure is still incomplete – of Paradise Papers. Very funnily, these names include persons, who the common man relies on, worship, holds in high esteem and vows to give his life for. Film star Amitabh Bachchan, who is often worshipped, Union Minister of State  Jayant Sinha, BJP Rajya Sabha M.P., R.K. Sinha, Corporate tycoon Vijay Mallya, Corporate lobbyist Niira Radia, Harsha Moily, son of former UPA Minister Veerappa Moily, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt’s wife Dilnashin, son of former UPA powerhouse and Central Minister P. Chidambaram, former Union Minister Sachin Pilot, and several others who is who of India’s Corporate world, politics, and other fields. Interestingly, What more? Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain, Lord Ashcroft, the most prominent British politician, U.S. Commerce Secretary, Wilbur Ross, Shakira, Madonna and notoriously disgraced Harvey Weinstein, for his sexual wrongdoings and so on and so forth.

In spite of strict regulations in every country, it would be interesting to know, how these celebrities, politicians, multinationals, and the ultra-rich individuals are hiding Paradise Papers. I’m not wrong that rules in every country have built-in loopholes. In other words, rules of every country have provided loopholes to the cunning and crafty to circumvent them. And we have got them in abundance. The very fact that our country ranks 19th out of 180 countries in Paradise Papers is certainly not something that we can cheer about.

The wealthy form shell companies, “foundations”, and “trusts” as a cover to hide their money from tax authorities. They form “offshore” accounts that are handled by law firms specializing in these “offshore’ expertise. To the world, their forceful argument is “offshore” banking which is legal. But, this is practiced by only the ultra-rich to evade tax. They take advantage of the legal loop-hole by taking shelter under the tax treaties by our Government.

But frankly speaking, will they ever be able to “use” that wealth? I don’t think it’s possible in the practical world. They can’t even see, touch and feel their wealth they have once dispatched. Not even after 500 years, they can use it if they ever could live.  Because these super-rich people already have countless wealth which is in their various kind of treasury vaults.  Is it not the paradise of illusion then?
