Ranchi: Baba Ramdev raked up a controversy on Saturday claiming that he was denied a Nobel prize because of his skin colour.

Commenting on the return award wapsi phenomenon by writers and filmmakers,, Ramdev said, “many incompetent and undeserving people seem to have got award and some people are playing cheap politics on the pretext of returning their awards. The country’s image is being tarnished on the international platform. I would have received a Noble Prize for my contribution to society in the field of yoga but I have not, perhaps because I am black.”

He is reported to have made the comment at a yoga camp in Ranchi.

Jharkhand Chief Minister was among those who attended the camp.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Palamau in Jharkhand on January 5, one colour will not be permitted in any form: black.

The Palamau administration issued the ban order after leaders of the 80,000 para teachers on strike since November 15 demanding regularization of their service vowed to show black flags to Modi in Palamau.

“The government staff or common people cannot wear black socks,” an official said. “The ban also covers clothes, bags, shoes, purses and caps.”
