Google on Tuesday rolled out an India-specific website on coronavirus that delivers comprehensive information about the pandemic, and how to stay productive during this time.

The website contains information such as key helpline numbers, content about symptoms, protective measures, known treatments, and the latest global and Indian statistics.

It also hosts a collection of videos on how people can use their time productively while at home, as well as resources and training modules for individuals, small businesses, and educators to stay connected and informed, especially when self-isolated at home.

The website has four key sections: health information, safety and prevention tips, data & insights, and resources. The Safety and Prevention Tips section consists of educational and informative links and videos by the Union Health Ministry, aiming to convey to people the importance of washing hands, declaring symptoms, and adopting responsible behaviour.

The website also carries a snapshot of some of the most popular searches related to coronavirus, including the latest coronavirus news, right way to wash hands, things to do at home, as well as answers to questions like what is social distancing?, what is a lockdown? or what is self-quarantine?

The Data and Insights section shows up-to-date insights from Google Trends including some of the most searched and trending questions on COVID-19 from India. The Resources section hosts several useful videos that help parents and kids spend time learning at home, or help people with coping techniques for stressful days, or simply try their hand at new recipes and DIY (do it yourself) projects spanning art and fitness.

To help people get up and running for working from home, there are also links to key resources: Individuals will find tips for getting work done when working from home useful, and teachers can connect with their students using resources like Distance learning resources for schools, Teach from Home tools for teachers, and methods to help kids learn to read at home.

Rumours have been floating on WhatsApp about IMPPA, that the shooting of Tv Serials may resume by June-end. Pixabay

Dispelling reports that shooting of films and television shows is going to start soon in Mumbai with a new set of rules, Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) declared that all such news is false and no decision has yet been taken on the matter, according to Covid-19 pandemic in India updates.

Unconfirmed reports had been doing the rounds since last evening, especially on WhatsApp, specifying names of office bearers of Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and stating that shooting of TV serials shall start around June-end.

Issuing a statement, IMPPA president TP Aggarwal clarified: “To verify the authenticity of the news, as no such decision or guidelines have ever been agreed to by all the Producers’ Associations, the undersigned spoke to Mr. Ashok Dubey, Gen Secretary of FWICE who informed that all such news and information of such decisions and guidelines being implemented by FWICE was totally false and baseless as no such decision has been taken till date. FWICE also confirmed that no such decision or guideline shall be finalized unless all the Producers’ Associations agree to the same.”

The statement further read: “Therefore, we have to inform all producers and everyone else concerned with the film and entertainment industry that any decision or guideline relating to the industry restarting after Coronavirus or any such the matter shall be valid and subsisting only if the same is countersigned and authenticated besides FWICE by all the Producers’ Association’s including by President of IMPPA.”

The circulated WhatsApp message mentioned that FWICE has issued guidelines that an inspector and an ambulance would have to be present on every set at all times and, though only 50 per cent workers will be allowed to work, the producer would have to pay all workers. The message added that if anything untoward happens to any worker due to coronavirus, the concerned producer would have to pay compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the affected worker.

IMPPA has urged media and every member of the film trade not to pay heed tpo these unconfirmed reports or spread such information, especially in the time of global pandemic. (IANS)

Search engine giant Google on Monday launched Grow with Google OnAir that will help impart free digital skills training to everyone in the US and Canada for the first time.

The in-person ‘Grow with Google’ was launched in 2017 to help Americans get the digital skills they need to succeed.

To date, the Grow with Google programme has trained more than 4 million Americans on digital skills.

“Though we’re no longer able to gather in person, that doesn’t mean the learning has to stop. So we’re announcing virtual programmes from Grow with Google that can help,” Jesse Haines, Director, Grow with Google said in a statement.
