"We have always been clear on our stand on Kashmir. It is India that has misinterpreted it," Aziz said at a press conference here.

"India seems to be ignoring the most important matter that is the bone of contention in the relations between the two countries. We stand by it and would like to talk on it with the Indian counterpart if and when we meet."

The two countries are scheduled to hold a NSA-level talks on August 23-24 in New Delhi.

The talks seem to be facing a roadblock after Pakistan on Friday rejected India's "advice" of not holding talks with Jammu and Kashmir's separatist leaders.
