Mumbai, Oct 3 : Actor John Abraham, who is currently busy with his production “Parmanu : The Story of Pokhran”, says that the release of the film is postponed because the makers wanted a proper date.

“There are so many films which have an entertainment purpose only and there are very few films which are important for our country. According to me, ‘Parmanu’ is one such film which is very important in modern India so it was important that we needed a proper release date for this film,” said John.

“And now I am not just an actor but a producer as well. I am producing this film with AKriaj Entertainment so I feel box-office collection is also important aspect of film business and now I think we have got good release date,” added the actor who was present with Prerna Arora for NDTV’s “Banega Swachh India” campaign along with Amitabh Bachchan on Mahatma Gandhi’s jayanti on Monday which is now also known as National Cleanliness Day.

Earlier, “Parmanu – The Story of Pokhran” was scheduled to release on December 8 and there were reports that the producers decided to postpone it to avoid clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Padmavati”.

Reacting to the reports, Arora, who is the founder of Kriaj Entertainment, said,
“‘Padmavati’ was earlier scheduled to release on December 17 which has been preponed to December 1.”

“Our film is big and important and is made with lot of heart. It’s the important film for the country as well so we wanted to showcase it in right way and we wanted to have availability of sufficient screens around us. We wanted everything to happen correctly so that’s reason we thought not to come on December 8,” she added.

The film also stars Daina Penty and Boman Irani. It is directed by Abhishek Sharma and produced by Zee Studio, JA Entertainment and Kriaj Entertainment.(IANS)

  • Actress Ileana D’Cruz, who suffered depression and Body Dysmorphic Disorder, says at one point in her life she felt suicidal.
  • But once she accepted herself, she started feeling better.

Actress Ileana D’Cruz suffered from Body Dysmorphic Disorder

At the 21st World Congress of Mental Health here on Sunday, Ileana had a tete-a-tete with Organising Chairman Sunil Mittal on her struggle with depression and Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Ileana was also awarded the Woman of Substance Award for her efforts towards raising awareness about mental health, read a statement.

She said: “I was always a very self-conscious person and was picked on for my body type. I used to feel low and sad all the time but didn’t know I was suffering from depression and Body Dysmorphic Disorder till I got help. All I wanted to do was to be accepted by everyone.

“At one point, I even had suicidal thoughts and wanted to end things. However, all of it changed when I accepted myself and what I was going through. I think that is the first step towards fighting depression.”

The “Barfi!” and “Rustom” actress said depression is “real” and people shouldn’t shy away from seeking help.

“It is a chemical imbalance in your brain and needs to be treated. Don’t sit back and think it will get okay but go get help. Like you have a sprain and go get yourself checked if you have depression, seek help,” she said, urging people to be like Winnie the Pooh. “He wore a crop top, ate his favorite food all day and loved himself, you can too.”

Ileana D’Cruz, whose mother was her biggest pillar of strength throughout, also said imperfections are a part of life.

“I am not saying that I had this miraculous recovery, every day is a process, every day is a step towards healing yourself and getting better. You are a human being and are allowed to be imperfect, and you are allowed to be flawed. There is a lot of beauty in your imperfections, in your uniqueness.

“You may look at us actors and think that ‘Oh my God, they are so pretty, so perfect’. But that’s not how it is. It takes two hours to get ready and look like this. Love yourself for who you are and trust me if you are happy from within, you are the most beautiful person and your smile is your best asset.”

Ileana D’Cruz said she decided to open up about her struggle because “as someone people look up to, even if I can help a handful of people cope, it is worth talking about it”.

New Delhi, October 3: The Akshay Kumar-Mallika Dua controversy took a great high after his wife, actor-turned-author Twinkle Khanna made an absolute remark by participating in it.

Twinkle Khanna took to twitter to defend Akshay’s comment to Mallika by stating that humour should have been seen in the right context, along with a tweet of two lame jokes meant against Mallika Dua.

Soon after a week when the whole controversy came to a chilling note, Twinkle Khanna penned down her apology on Facebook by asserting her comment as a purely unperspective emotion. In her long facebook post, she articulated that this apology came as a mere weapon to save her family and children from this controversy.

Twinkle wrote, “Unwise Wisecracks -As I reflect on my actions this past week, I realize that I got pulled into this debate not as a social commentator but as a wife and unlike my normal, slightly rational self, my reaction was purely emotional and without perspective, and I have been rather miserable about it ever since. I would like to apologize to everyone who felt that I was trivializing the cause of feminism especially because I strongly believe in equality and have been a feminist from the time I was a young woman, much before I even knew the term. I think this came at a point where I was already reeling from an onslaught of abuse against various members of my family, which started with vicious and personal comments about my mother and went on to a widely shared open letter where the writer as a comeback for my comments about Karva Chauth tried to fling muck at every single member of my family. So when in this latest episode regarding my husband, my five-year-old was also dragged in for something that she had absolutely nothing to do with, I reached breaking point. And with my protective instincts in overdrive, I reacted irrationally with the only tools I have that help me retain my sanity in this fishbowl existence -words and lame jokes -though they have got me into trouble often enough in the past as well.”

Akshay Kumar had given a comment to Mallika Dua on The Great Indian Laughter challenge, by saying, “Aap bell bajao, main aapko bajata hoon.” (In the show, the judges are expected to ring a bell when a contestant performs well on the show).

This seemed unbefitting to Mallika Dua and she took to Twitter to stress on her uncomfortability with the comment by Akshay Kumar. Mallika’s father, journalist Vinod Dua also lashed out at Akshay with a demand for an apology. Later, Mallika had deleted her post, while the post by Vinod Dua’s got discarded due to a copyright issue.
