New Delhi: What is taught to children in schools? Be innovative and creative. Find new things, use your mind, ask questions.

Mangal Singh, a farmer-scientist from Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh was greatly inspired by his schooling.

The Dearth of electricity and high prices of fuel has always been a problem for Indian farmers. In a bid to eradicate the problems, Mangal Singh innovated and built a turbine that runs without electricity or fuel. He even got the patent for it. His efforts were lauded across the globe.

The government regardless of the political colour promised him assistance but they never materialized. All he got was harassment.

Mangal Singh is 68 years old. He carries a briefcase, a backpack bag and another bag full of documents related to 'Mangal turbine', his RTIs and everything that is recorded since 1987.

The Government promised him financial assistance and support after the researchers from prominent institutes like IIT came and validated it. He was once given 6400 rupees for Marketing by CAPART and then it was said that 'he didn't do anything'.

The Government promised him money in 1990, released it in 1996 and Mangal Singh got it in 2001 and that too only half. The rest was never released.

One of the key schemes of Narendra Modi government is 'Make In India'. This question should be asked, "Isn't the Mangal turbine an example of Make In India''?

We spend a lot of money on IITs trying to find some talents. Half of the students from there do an MBA and go in marketing, rest do their engineer jobs without any fun. A small number of these really do something inventive and innovative after their graduation projects. And here's a man who built something that was effective and helpful. Not only it was successful but it was environment-friendly as well.

His land was auctioned by the UP government. His passport applications were rejected. However, he did not lose hope. He travels, speaks and does everything that he can do. He is just not a scientist, he is a social activist trying to fight against corruption.

Mangal Singh has a simple question, he asks if the government can give funds to Tata Indica in the name of people's interest then why not his Mangal turbine?

An area of 100 hectares was turned green with the help of Mangal turbine. For more than 25 years, many researchers visited and praised the functioning of the turbine and then suddenly government says, 'there is a need for inspection, only then a decision can be made'.

It is not like that he did not get any support, a lot of government officials tried to help him many times but somehow the appreciation he deserved remained a bit far.(Video-Mangal Singh)
