Milind Soman says staying active, hydrating and self-care are the key elements to fight aging. Wikimedia Commons

Model-actor and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman is in his mid-fifties, but could easily pass off as a thirty-something. He says staying active, hydrating and self-care are the key elements to fight aging.

Milind shares tips on how one can age well, by making a few minor dietary and lifestyle adjustments.

* WORK IT OUT!

If you know me at all, you know I love to work out and run — and I personally believe this habit of keeping my body active has helped me stay fit. A lot of people think aging slows your fitness and endurance levels, but take it from me – it is the opposite! Fitness and an active lifestyle slows down aging. I started running long distances when I was 40 years old, and I personally believe you are never too old to challenge yourself. Once you start respecting your body, and work towards keeping it healthy proactively, the results will amaze you. The only way to jump into is it to simply begin with one step!

Follow NewsGram on LinkedIn to know what’s happening around the world.

Dedicate even five minutes every day and start with basic exercises such as stretching, yoga asana, planks or stair climbing. If these don’t work for you, spend time trying forms of exercise to find the best fit. It is not necessary to run a marathon or build a six pack! Find exercises that you can enjoy that help you maintain your basic muscular strength, joint flexibility and cardio vascular endurance. Once you have done that, exercising won’t feel like a task. You will enjoy it with enthusiasm.

* HYDRATING YOURSELF IS IMPORTANT

Ensuring your body gets enough water helps in restoring the skin’s balance and fights overheating. Using natural moisturisers could be good to hydrate your skin as well. There are many natural ingredients that can be found in any kitchen that can make your skin feel fabulous! This helps in reducing fine lines, giving your skin a plumper appearance. Besides taking care of your skin’s health from the outside, it is also important to nourish it with the right food, to take care of it from within. Make sure to consume enough water, fresh fruits and vegetables every day to help maintain the body and skin’s hydration.

* SELF-CARE

Self-care and healthy, active living is most important and taking the right measures will help you achieve your goal and age gracefully. The key is to spend a few minutes each day to do what is necessary to enable you to live your life to the fullest, every moment without fear. Keep moving.

* ADD ALMONDS TO YOUR DAY!

As we grow older, it is as important as ever to be conscious of what we eat. Make sure our daily diet is full of healthy food. For me, almonds are one thing I make sure I eat every day. They are a rich source of protein and energy, and also known to contribute to cell regeneration and muscle recovery post activity. Beyond this, almonds are known to have satiating properties, which make them a great choice of snack. Having said that, I ensure I start my day a handful of almonds! Alternately, you could choose to have them in portions through the day, as a part of your breakfast bowl or a snack in between meals, or after a refreshing workout. (IANS)

Recently, Tom and Jerry was made into a live action film

Every child who grew up in the 90s and the early 00s has certainly grown up around Tom and Jerry, the adorable, infamous cat-chases-mouse cartoon. The idea of naughtiness and playing mischief had the standards that this particular series set for children and defined how much wreckage was funny enough.

The show's creators, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera initially named their characters Jasper and Jinx. They did not plan for the fame that Tom and Jerry brought them when they released a movie by the name of "Puss Gets the Boot". This movie featured a certain cat and mouse who were a notorious pair, named Jasper and Jinx. When the movie became a hit, the names of the characters were changed and the show shot to fame.

Indians Rarely Make Time For Arts And Culture, Says Survey

One of India's leading private museums, the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) Bengaluru, has released new primary research conducted by the ReReeti Foundation, on audience behaviour in India's cultural sector. While more than half of the respondents thought the arts and culture are essential, they rarely manage to make time for it. The majority (60.6 per cent), mostly young people under 30, felt Indian museums could present more engaging content, and most perceived culture as anthropological/ sociological. Of the diverse categories included, music emerged as the most popular cultural activity.

The report is based on a survey of 500 people, which included school and college students, professionals across sectors, homemakers and senior citizens. The first initiative of its kind in the cultural space, the report shares valuable insights into the behaviour and expectations of Indian audiences engaging with a broad range of cultural activities. As part of MAP's mission to foster meaningful connections between communities and the cultural sector globally, which includes its innovative digital programme Museums Without Borders, the report shares a wealth of insights that can help museums across the country understand their audiences better. As much as 60.6 per cent said Indian museums are not experimental enough, and can do more to create engaging content that is also relevant to surrounding communities.As much as 60.6 per cent said Indian museums are not experimental enough, and can do more to create engaging content that is also relevant to surrounding communities.

What is the best way to save Goa from deforestation?

What is the best way to save Goa from deforestation?

Drinking feni, may well be the answer, says the secretary of the Goa Cashew Feni Distillers and Bottlers Association Hansel Vaz, who on Thursday said, that sipping the state's unique alcoholic drink and making it popular would directly aid the greening of Goa's hills and other barren landscapes.

"To get more cashews, we need to plant more trees. I always say, by drinking feni you will save Goa, because we will be planting more cashew trees and we will have greener hills. The beauty of cashew is you do not need fertile land. You can grow it on a hill which can provide no nutrition. We will be able to grow more trees, if we can sell feni properly," Vaz said. Vaz's comments come at a time when the hillsides of the coastal state have witnessed significant deforestation for real estate development and for infrastructure projects. Feni is manufactured by fermenting and double distilling juice from the cashew apple.
