New Delhi, October 31, 2017 : HMD Global, which owns the right of manufacturing and selling Nokia-branded phones, on Tuesday announced the battery-centric Nokia 2 at Euro 99 (roughly Rs 7,500).

“People rely on their phones so much these days. We created a smartphone that can power through when other devices need a pit stop,” said Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, in a statement.

Nokia 2 packs 4100mAh battery that offers two-day life, the company claimed.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset and features 5-inch LCD HD display with stock Android Nougat operating system (OS).

The OS will be upgraded to latest Android Oreo OS in the future, the company said.

The device houses 8MP rear camera with automatic scene detection and auto focus (AF) and 5MP selfie camera.

The smartphone has 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 128GB via a dedicated MicroSD card slot. (IANS)

Android Pie 9.0 comes to Nokia 6.1.

Finnish company HMD Global, which manufactures and markets Nokia smartphones, has announced its Nokia 6.1 has started receiving Android 9 Pie operating system (OS).

Notably, this is the second smartphone from the HMD stable with Android Pie, is the ninth major update and the 16th version of the Android OS.

“The Nokia 6.1 has been selected by Google to join the Android One family and therefore, users get exclusive access to ‘Apps Actions’ — a feature only available to Android One and Google Pixel devices. ‘App Actions’ helps users get things done faster by predicting their next move and displaying the right action on right away,” the company said in a statement late on Tuesday.

In line with the government's Digital India programme, Nokia on Wednesday launched a "Smartpur" digital village project with the aim of developing 500 digitally integrated villages across the country in five years.
