“Demolition, desperation, and depression. These three words became synonymous with my life after the first year of college. Being a computer science student with absolutely no coding background meant that I needed to put in double the efforts. However, when it came to coding, I failed thrice in exams and got backlogs in subjects like Programming, Data Structures, and Advanced Programming. I had virtually given up on coding and wanted to quit the stream for some other option. Amidst such depression, I stumbled upon Android. It fascinated me, but I knew I could not do anything as my programming basics were not clear. When all seemed lost, a friend suggested online training. I did some online research and enrolled for an Android training.

The training was divided into 4 modules, each having a test of its own. I started off quite slow, learning and practising the basics of Java first and later moving to Android. I was also attending summer classes at the college, studying to clear my backlogs. I had always thought that I could do any free course online or watch videos on YouTube – after all, everywhere on the internet, the content would be same, but I realized that wasn’t the case after a couple of days into the training. The content was tailored for learning and focused on the basics and then gradually escalated, covering everything that any beginner needed. It answered many questions and doubts that I had for a long time. Slowly but steadily, the training helped me improve my coding and helped me in understanding the concepts being taught in the summer classes.

The flexibility offered by the online training was another advantage. I could study for as long as I wanted according to my own schedule which helped me in managing the college work. The provided support was also great! I topped all my backlog exams of coding and within 2 months of completing the training, I developed two apps which are available on Play Store. After successfully developing the first app, my interest in coding increased significantly. I started devoting a lot of hours on this regularly and topped the subsequent exams in the next semester! I started getting noticed for my coding skills and even got offers to work with a couple of startups. Now, I have done another online training and added yet another skill to my arsenal.”

This is what Ankush Sharma, a student pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun has to share about his tryst with online training and how his life took a U-turn for the best.

To begin with, what is online training?

Unlike the conventional learning in a classroom, online training makes the content available for students digitally. Students can learn online, anywhere and anytime. Instead of using physical copies of books it uses visual content and gamification. It also offers flexibility to help you learn as per your timeline and availability.

An online training helps in laying a strong foundation while providing you with an in-depth knowledge of the subject and instilling a confidence that will help you crack any exam or interview. There are millions of Ankush out there who have been at the brunt of our education system, which focuses more on marks and less on learnings. This conventional approach is getting obsolete and with time students have been progressing towards online learning to help seek support and understand topics better. It is time you decide, what would you like to be, the victim or the victor?

A child’s education is what the parents or guardians worry the most about and thus it is quintessential for you to encourage and help your child at every step of their journey. More so often than not, as a parent, you succumb to societal pressure and unknowingly transfer that pressure onto your child. One of the many ways you could help your kid in their academic and professional journey is by encouraging them to opt for an online learning.

To begin with, what is online learning?

Unlike the conventional learning in a classroom, online learning makes the content available for students digitally. Students can learn online, anywhere and anytime. Instead of physical copies of books, e-learning uses visual content and gamification.

To help you understand why you should encourage your kid to opt for an online learning, we have listed few perks it offers below.

  1. Help them realize their passion:

School or college is a difficult stage for every student. Either they are not sure about which field to pursue graduation in or with time tend to lose interest. Online training can help solve that problem. The duration of the training range from 4-6 weeks and it will help them understand where their interest lies.

Before a student starts looking for opportunities to work, it is essential to establish if he/she is interested in their field of study and have a good knowledge of the subjects.

  1. Help them get an in-depth knowledge

Online training is designed for the masses hence, the training is broken down into several segments and covers the basics quite well. The entire training will have tests and assignments to provide an in-depth knowledge. At times, the syllabus in college might not be updated with the latest developments in the field of study but online trainings help keep them up to date.  Also, the learnings can be put to the final test by completing the project at the end of the training.

  1. Help them get experience to test the knowledge attained

Online training would give them an opportunity to test all that they have learned into live situations; academically and professionally. It will help instil confidence in them to change their approach as per the objective rather than the conventional approach. The projects which they would do as a part of the online training will help them apply the theories on to real-life situations. For instance, they could make a new website for their college or an app f as a part of the project. You will get hands-down experience through these projects.

With changing times, there is a dearth of opportunities and less clarity amongst students about what to do next. It essential for a student to discover and realize where their passion lies and have relevant knowledge and experience. As a parent, it is your important that you become a support system for your kid and guide him/her at every step of their journey and not base your judgement on the basis of what the society has to say.
