New Jersey: A renowned university in the United States has opened its first Hindu prayer area, providing permanent space for a goddess Saraswati temple, musical instruments and books. There are plans to hold private and guided meditation and worship in this space as well.
The prayer space located on the campus at Green Hall of Princeton University will be available daily to undergraduate and graduate students and faculty.
Rajan Zed, an Indian immigrant and Hindu cleric, and president of the Universal Society of Hinduism welcomed this step, saying that the decision was a “step in the right direction”, as it was important to meet “the spiritual needs of these students, for rituals, quiet reflection, festivals and spiritual exercise, which will help in their personal growth.”
