Priyanka Chopra had ‘best time’ hosting Global Citizen Festival

New York, Sep 24 : Actress Priyanka Chopra hosted the Global Citizen Festival wearing a floral dress and matching boots and shared backstage moments with celebrities like Freida Pinto, Demi Lovato and Lupita Nyong’o.

Clad in a red, white and black floral mini shift dress with thigh high boots in the same print, Priyanka, 35, was excited about the festival. Her long brown hair was worn loose in soft curls and she wore round sunglasses for the event at the Central Park here on Saturday, reports dailymail.co.uk.

“I had the best time hosting Global Citizen. Proud to be a Global Citizen ambassador,” the “Quantico” star posted on her Intagram page.

Before carrying out her duty as a host, Priyanka was seen wearing dark blue jeans and a white T-shirt with the Global Citizen Festival’s logo on it.

Backstage, the actress mixed with fellow celebrity guests including Lupita Nyong’o and Michelle Monaghan, both wearing Global Citizen Festival T-shirts.

Singer Demi Lovato was also backstage, wearing a figure-hugging fuchsia coloured dress.

Joining them was actress Freida Pinto, who also sported a Global Citizen Festival tee. She was flaunting a floral bomber jacket.

Priyanka was also seen posing for photographs with actor Kal Penn, who was dressed in a shark costume.

The Global Citizen Festival is an annual one-day music festival held here in an effort to help end poverty and fight inequality.

Included in this year’s line-up are Stevie Wonder, Green Day, The Lumineers, The Killers, The Chainsmokers and Pharrell.

Actress Priyanka Chopra has partnered with Facebook India for a live event called #SocialForGood to spread awareness on issues like mental health, cyber bullying and women entrepreneurship.

#SocialForGood will be a four hour long live event, which will take place on November 27 on Facebook.

Talking about the event and influence of social media on social issues, Priyanka Chopra said in a statement: “There is no denying the power of social media. It is a force which once unleashed, is difficult to control or stop. Its force comes from the huge influence it wields and recognising that means, using it well, to do some good.

“I have personally witnessed the positive effects of social media in bringing awareness and action to many of the causes I hold dear to my heart. The right content can make all the difference.”

The actress feels the idea to use “it to bring awareness to causes that matter, celebrate some real-life stories and also inspire people to do their bit for the community, is fantastic” idea.

“I am looking forward to this partnership with Facebook. May the Force to spread the good, be with all of us #SocialForGood,” she added. Apart from the “Baywatch” actress, the event will also witness other big names from the industry who have been active on social media in spreading awareness and education among people. The names are yet to be announced.
