We’re on the move with the five most popular songs in the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles chart, for the week ending March 24, 2018.

It’s always a good week when we welcome a new song, and this one is already setting records.

Number 5: Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line “Meant To Be”

Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line are your Top Five newcomers this week, as “Meant To Be” rises two slots to fifth place.

This song comes with a pedigree: It’s now in its 16th week atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. That’s the longest reign in that chart’s history for a song with a lead female vocal. Ironically, it was originally released on the contemporary hit radio format … not country.

Number 4: Post Malone Featuring Ty Dolla $ign “Psycho”

Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign back off two slots to fourth place with “Psycho.”

Post’s next album “Beerbongs & Bentleys” has been a long time coming …and we still don’t have a release date. However, he’s now offering two different beer bongs on his merchandise page for $20 apiece … so that new album can’t be too far off, can it?

Number 3: Bruno Mars & Cardi B “Finesse”

Bruno Mars and Cardi B take over third place with “Finesse,” and Cardi just gave us her unfiltered opinion of the #MeToo movement.

Speaking with Cosmopolitan magazine, Cardi said she doesn’t feel the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements will have much effect on the hip hop scene. She says sexual favors were expected back when she was trying to break into videos, and if women spoke up they were belittled. Cardi also doesn’t feel that male producers and directors have learned much from anti-harassment initiatives … they’re just scared.

Number 2: Ed Sheeran “Perfect”

Ed Sheeran recovers a slot to second place with “Perfect.” Ed’s plans to build a chapel on his English estate may be foiled by newts. Ed submitted an application to the Suffolk Coastal District Council, but neighbors worry about the planned structure’s impact on the crested newt population. The little amphibians are a protected species.

Number 1: Drake “God’s Plan”

Drake heads the hit list for a seventh week with “God’s Plan.” Last year, author Margaret Atwood suggested that Drake should appear in the TV adaptation of her novel The Handmaid’s Tale. On March 18, cast members made their own appeals for Drake to take a cameo role in the dystopian show. Season 2 releases on April 25 on Hulu … without Drake, as far as we know. VOA

We’re airborne with the five most popular songs in the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles chart, for the week ending March 31, 2018.

Last week, we had a big new addition to the Top Five … this week it’s the same lineup, just slightly shuffled.

Number 5: Post Malone Featuring Ty Dolla $ign “Psycho”

That comes in fifth place, where Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign back off a notch with “Psycho.”

It’s Post’s second Top Five hit, and also the second for Ty … back in 2016, he topped out in fourth place as Fifth Harmony’s guest on “Work From Home.” If you’d like to see the video for this song, head to our Facebook page, VOA1TheHits.

Number 4: Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line “Meant To Be”

Taking over fourth place is the dynamite combination of Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line, with “Meant To Be.”

That’s not all: It’s your Hot Country Songs champion for an incredible 17th week. Born to ethnic Albanian parents in New York City, Bleta “Bebe” Rexha won a “Best Teen Songwriter” contest sponsored by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. That set her on her way to her recording career.

Both Bebe and Bruno Mars have been performing since they were little kids.

Number 3: Bruno Mars & Cardi B “Finesse”

This week, Bruno and Cardi B spend another week in third place with “Finesse.”

Esquire magazine recently took a close look at Bruno’s fashion choices. If you want to copy his look, go for silky track suits, bolo ties, sunglasses at all times, bold chains, and sequins. You can get a closer look by reading the article on our Facebook page.

Number 2: Ed Sheeran “Perfect”

Ed Sheeran may be permanently attached to second place, because that’s where you’ll again find “Perfect.” He’s popular everywhere, but seems to hold a particular place in the hearts of his Australian fans.

Ed’s “Divide” album tops the Aussie album list for a 25th week. Only three albums have lasted longer at the top: Delta Goodrem’s “Innocent Eyes” at 29 weeks; Adele’s “21” with 32 weeks; and the all-time champion, “Brothers In Arms” by Dire Straits, which topped the ARIA album chart for 34 weeks.

Number 1: Drake “God’s Plan”

Meanwhile, Drake notches another frame atop the Hot 100 with “God’s Plan,” bringing his championship run to eight weeks. Drake just dropped a piece of news about his next album.

Last week, Drake went on Instagram to say he’s working on a new album …and Murda Beatz is among the producers. They’ve collaborated several times, most recently on Drake’s 2017 collection “More Life.”

We’ll have more hits next week, so join us if you can! VOA

We’re lifting off with the five most popular songs in the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles chart, for the week ending Feb. 24, 2018.

Did our top songs change this week? No. Do any songs change this week? No. So if you liked last week’s chart, you’ll love this one as well.

Number 5: Post Malone Featuring 21 Savage “Rockstar”

Post Malone and 21 Savage hold in fifth place with their former champ “Rockstar.”

It seems to be the new trend: When two artists have hit songs, they take it on the road. Post and 21 Savage will tour together beginning on April 26 in Portland, Oregon. Twenty-eight dates later, it all ends on June 24 in San Francisco.

Number 4: Camila Cabello Featuring Young Thug “Havana”

Our fourth-place hit is “Havana” from Camila Cabello and Young Thug. Or should I say Camila Cabello and SEX. That’s right: This week, Young Thug took to Twitter to announce that he was changing his name to SEX — in capital letters. This may be a case of history repeating itself: Two years ago, he supposedly changed his name to “Jefferey,” which turned out to be the title of a mixtape.

Number 3: Bruno Mars & Cardi B. “Finesse”

Bruno Mars and Cardi B remain themselves this week, as “Finesse” stays put at No. 3.

Rumors have been swirling around a possible Cardi B pregnancy, but Offset of Migos just shut them down. Cardi B’s fiance tells TMZ that he already has three kids and that Cardi is not expecting.

Number 2: Ed Sheeran “Perfect”

We all thought Ed Sheeran was Cherry Seaborn’s fiance — but is he much more?

Last month, Ed announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend Seaborn, but now fans think they may already be married. On February 19, Ed performed at the O2 in London, where he sparked marriage rumors by wearing a gold band on his ring finger. So far, the singer has made no comment.

Number 1: Drake “God’s Plan”

Up at No. 1, Drake rules the roost for a third week with “God’s Plan.” The video features Drake making nearly $1 million in charitable donations in the Miami area. Drake calls it the most important thing he’s done in his career — and it also earned high praise from fellow chart star Justin Bieber. On February 19, Justin took to Instagram to hail it as the best video he’s ever seen.

Can Drake last an even month at the top? We’ll find out next week. (VOA)
