The woman is accused of stabbing her husband, Siraj Al Din Ebrahim, who is also from India, 30 times at their home in Manama city in April 2014. The verdict was supposed to be out on Wednesday, reported the Gulf Daily News. Judges have adjourned the trial until September 9 to summon the rest of the prosecution witnesses. The accused woman claims that her husband took his own life by stabbing himself in the neck, chest and abdomen because of financial problems.
A medical examiner’s report presented to the court showed that Ebrahim suffered 79 different injuries before he died, ranging from stab wounds to cuts, scratches and bites. The examiner told the judges that it was simply “not possible” for a man to kill himself in such a way.
He added that the injuries sustained by the wife were defensive wounds — suggesting that Ebrahim was fighting back as he was stabbed. Prosecutors claim Ebrahim’s wife, who was married to him for eight years, killed him so that she could be with her boyfriend. She is charged with premeditated murder and is standing trial in Bahrain’s high criminal court.
