Vivo Unveils “Super Flash Charge” to Deliver 120W Ultra-High Power Charging

The handset maker also displayed its first commercial 5G smartphone that will be officially available

Chinese handset maker Vivo on Wednesday unveiled its proprietary “Super FlashCharge” 120W — a first in the industry to deliver 120W ultra-high power charging — at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in Shanghai, China.

According to the data from a lab test, Vivo “Super FlashCharge” 120W takes only five minutes to charge a 4,000mAh battery from 0 to 50 per cent and can fully charge the smartphone in just 13 minutes, the company said in a statement.

The handset maker also displayed its first commercial 5G smartphone that will be officially available starting third quarter (Q3) 2019.

The 120W charge features a new charge pump technology with a customisable Type-C data cable and travel charger.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo on Friday officially unveiled the third generation of its APEX concept smartphone – APEX 2020.

The smartphone manufacturer was expected to unveil the smartphone at MWC 2020. However, due to the cancellation of the convention due to the coronavirus outbreak, the company has revealed the device via an online stream.

“Through APEX 2020, we are proud to see Vivo’s vision come to life as a technology company that continues to push the boundaries of mobile technology and explore what lies beyond the ordinary,” Harry Hong, General Manager of Product, Vivo said in a statement.

“It also showcases our ambition to achieve our aspirations step-by-step. vivo will continue to put APEX’s innovative technologies into practice, allowing more consumers to be empowered by such technology,” Harry added.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The device features a 6.45-inch FullView display, with the edges bending at an angle of 120-degrees on both the sides.

The front camera features a 4-in-1 super-pixel photosensitive chip and the company has also successfully embeded a gimbal-like structure into APEX 2020’s main camera, which is equipped with a 5x-7.5x Continuous Optical Zoom.

The phone supports ‘Wireless Super FlashCharge 60W’ which aims to recharges a handset with a 2000mAh battery in only 20 minutes. (IANS)
