New Delhi, March 16, 2017: The core AAP volunteer Mahesh Dhanuk, who is working for the ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ since the time of Anna movement has raised a voice barefacedly on the unfair distribution of tickets in MCD elections by posting an open letter to Mr. Arvind Kejriwal on his Facebook profile.

An open letter by AAP volunteer expressing his grief to Mr. Arvind Kejriwal

The letter reads-

“I am informing you that there has been an unethical distribution of tickets in Municipal Corporation Elections. In spite of allocating the tickets to the grassroots volunteer who has been working for the party since a long time, the tickets have been distributed to those who joined the party three months back by accepting the money in lakhs from them. You might be mulling over the proofs which substantiate the claims and for that, I would intimate you to kindly keep a check on the new faces in the party. Only 50 out of 275 seats were given to old volunteers. Besides that, our MLAs are selecting new faces as suggested by the Congress and BJP old MLAs. This seems to be a new way to earn money for the MLA of our party. Secondly, the MLAs have earned a copious amount of money in the name of donations. I acknowledge that you are new in the politics and members of BJP and Congress has propagated corruption in our party. Many of our leaders are in contact with these two parties. This nevertheless is a blatant fact and cannot be proved to you. I have been with you since the time of Anna Movement in Varanasi and the time you became the Chief Minister. There is not even a single man in Delhi who has worked harder than me in the respective ward. Even then, I have not been given the ticket while the one who is unknown to the public is given the ticket. I would like to display the fact to you that Municipal Elections are won on popularity. After all, what could be the reason behind people protesting in front of your house right after ticket distribution? It was a blunderous decision to delegate the responsibility of ticket distribution to these MLAs. You still have time to ask these MLAs about their lewd actions. Apparently, I am the most eminent face you will find on facebook that has worked up till late night to make you famous. The MLAs have already earned in crores and it is the time now to save AAP from any malpractices. And if you want to witness the plunder done by these MLAs, you can see through it by enunciating the withdrawal of tickets distributed through unfair means. Right after the declaration you will see these MLAs rushing to you to undo the decision because for they can leave the party but will never return the money. I rest my case here, I urge you to take a bold stance. I hope that you will take significant measures and save the party from the clutch of these worthless bribers.”

The unappeasable volunteers are trying their best to reach out to the founder of Aam Aadmi Party, Mr. Kejriwal but none of their griefs have given the heed. Lately, these volunteers are seen brazen on the social media platforms due to regurgitated ignorance by the chief officials of the party.

The Newsgram reporter spoke to Mr. Mahesh Dhanuk to apprehend the matter pertaining to MCD Election tickets.

“The AAP party deviated from its core objective due to Punjab elections. They highlighted that the majority seats of seats will be acquired by the party itself. As the result date approached nearby, they distributed the ticket haphazardly and recklessly through the exchange of cash. It was presumed that if AAP lost in Punjab tickets would not sell, and that is why they sold 248 tickets out of 272. But now the matter has been highlighted all over the nation.”, said Mahesh Dhanuk on being asked about the loophole of the AAP governance in MCD elections.

The former NRI Convener of AAP tweeted on MCD elections-

Isn’t it ironical? The party which hailed from anti-corruption principles is the one at the helm of corruption. Ticket distribution is the major draw of the functioning of a party; however, AAP seemed to have flunked the test of governance.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s adviser V. K. Jain on Thursday told police that he saw AAP MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal “physically assaulting” Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash, according to Jain’s statement recorded by the Delhi Police.

The AAP defended by stating that Jain had initially told police that he did not witness any assault and police has threatened Jain to change his statement.

On Tuesday, the Chief Secretary had alleged that he was beaten up by the two AAP MLAs in the presence of Kejriwal at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday night, where he had been called for an emergency meeting.

Police later arrested Khan and Jarwal and they were sent to judicial custody till Thursday.

According to the Chief Secretary, the Chief Minister’s adviser had called him over the phone and asked him to come to the Chief Minister’s residence for the meeting and Jain was also present there.

On Thursday, the Delhi Police submitted Jain’s statement at a city court, which said that Jain had gone to the washroom during the meeting and as he came out he saw the two AAP MLAs “physically assaulting” the Chief Secretary.

The statement was recorded under Section 161 of the CrPC, which means that it was recorded in front of the police and not a magistrate.

Sources told IANS that Jain later recorded his statement in front of a magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC.

“The statement under section 164 was later recorded with the magistrate in front a camera, without the presence of police. In that statement also he (Jain) has said that he saw the two MLAs physically assaulting the Chief Secretary,” a police officer privy to the case told IANS.

The officer said that the statement under section 164 has also been submitted to the court.

Jain was first questioned on Wednesday morning and then again on Thursday and his statement was recorded on Thursday.

The change in Jain’s statement that the AAP was referring to was from a “question and answer” with Jain recorded by police after questioning him on Wednesday.

According to a copy of Wednesday’s “question and answer” recorded by police, when asked whether Jain saw the Chief Secretary being manhandled, he replied that he had gone to the washroom in between the meeting and he could not say what happened during that time.

“By putting pressure on him (Jain) throughout the day (Thursday) and by threatening him, police has forced him to change his statement,” AAP MP Sanjay Singh told the media here on Thursday.

“How is it that the same Jain who emphatically said yesterday that he witnessed no assault during the entire time that he was present there has now claimed otherwise?” he asked.

Singh said that AAP MLAs were being arrested over an alleged assault of which there was no proof.

“But on the other hand, despite there being video footage of officials assaulting Delhi Cabinet Minister Imran Hussain, there is no action taken against the guilty by the Delhi Police,” the AAP MP said.

The court on Thursday sent the two AAP MLAs, arrested on charges of assaulting the Chief Secretary, to judicial custody for 14 days.

Orders on the bail pleas of the two AAP MLAs and also on their police custody will be pronounced on Friday.

Meanwhile, scores of Delhi government employees across the city observed a five-minute silence outside their respective offices as a protest against the alleged assault on the Chief Secretary.

The IAS Association said that officers would continue the protest every day, till steps are taken to “ensure safety and dignity” of government staff in the city.

The AAP also hit out at Lt Governor Anil Baijal by stating that he was “working as a BJP agent” and demanded action against those involved in “manhandling and beating up” Hussain and his aide at the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday. (IANS)
