Indian Coast Gaurd’s Dornier aircraft missing; search and rescue operation on

Chennai: A Dornier aircraft of the Indian Coast Guard has been missing since Monday night, official sources said on Tuesday.

"The aircraft that flew from Chennai and has been over due since 10 p.m. Monday night," an official said.

Indian Navy and Coast Guard have launched full scale search and rescue operations to look for the aircraft.

A few months backs, an Indian Navy Dornier 228 surveillance aircraft based at INS Hansa, Goa, had also crashed into the Arabian sea during a routine training sortie killing two navy pilots. The ill-fated Dornier aircraft had belonged to the illustrious 310 Naval Air Squadron, codenamed Cobras.
