Vishva Hindu Parishad, the right-wing Hindu nationalist organization has decided to fight caste divisions within the Hindu society to promote intra-religious unity.

In a bid to unite Hindus of Uttar Pradesh, Praveen Togadia led VHP has coined the slogan, Ek Kuan, Mandir aur Shamshan, Hinduon ki Yahi Pehchan ( Same well, temple and cremation ground for all Hindus). The slogan aims to hit at the root of caste based discrimination which prohibits members of lower castes to use the same well, temple and cremation ground being used by the members of upper castes.

The organization has decided to launch a program called Hindu Parivar Mitra, to bring the Hindu society closer by promoting commensality among different caste members. The program will encourage people to break the barriers of caste.

"We have also decided to launch the Hindu Parivar Mitra campaign. Conceived by VHP working president Praveen Togadia, the idea of this campaign is to unite the Hindus. Irrespective of their caste, all Hindus should share meal with each other. They should be part of each other's happiness and sorrow." Sharad Sharma, VHP's Ayodhya chapter spokesperson said.

He also said that the target of the program would be to form one lakh Hindu Parivar Mitras in the country within a year.
