A gunfire among members of several rival biker gangs in a hectic shopping plaza in the Central Texas city of Waco on Sunday resulted in death of at least nine bikers and injuries to 18 others.
The police official told the news channel that members of at least three rival gangs were present in the parking for a meeting. The brawl ensued in the bathroom and later carried on to the restaurant.
Michelle Logan, one of the eye witnesses told the news channel, "There were about 30 firearms in action in the parking lot and around 100 shots were fired in all."
The police being aware of the meeting in advance was already present at the restaurant when the fight began. The police officers shot the bikers, Swanton told the news channel, to prevent further deaths.
Police said the condition of some of the injured men, who had knife and gunshot wounds, is critical and many more deaths might occur.
The two restaurants were closed after the shootout, and the police detained some of the eye-witnesses to question them.
