Prime Minister Narendra Modi is facing the flak from the people all over the country, for his recent comments during his diplomatic tour to China. While addressing the Indian community in Shanghai, he had said his year in office had given Indians settled abroad a new pride in the country.

As The Hindu reported, Modi said, "Earlier, you felt ashamed of being born Indian".

"Now you feel proud to represent the country. Indians abroad had all hoped for a change in government last year."

The hashtag #ModiInsultsIndia has been trending on twitter, with people condemning Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his narcissistic comments.
Earlier too, in April 2015, Modi was criticized for his statements made in Germany and Canada about the "mess" the earlier government had created out of the country. PTI had reported Anand Sharma, a Congress spokesperson as stating, "He is talking on foreign soil to malign his predecessors and the present opposition. No prime minister of of India in its history has ever done so".

Once again with his recent remark in Shanghai, Modi has drawn the censure of not only the opposition, but also the common people across the country, towards him.
