Nation bid Adieu to its valiant Soldier and Martyr Sandeep Singh Rawat with full State Honours

Dehradun, October 29, 2016: Rifleman Sandeep Singh Rawat's mortal remains on Saturday were consigned to flames in Haridwar with full state honors. He passed away while foiling an infiltration bid along the LoC in Tangdhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat along with a host of dignitaries paid tribute to the martyr as his body was flown in on Saturday morning.

"I salute the martyrdom of a brave father's brave son. Not a day passes these days when a mother does not lose her son for the sake of the nation. All these sacrifices are meant for the nation," Rawat said after laying a wreath on Sandeep's body.

Harendra Singh Rawat, Sandeep's father is also an ex-serviceman. He joined the sixth Garhwal Rifles of the Army in only last year January.

The Chief Minister said, "The entire country and the state stood by the family of the martyr in this hour of grief."

According to PTI, Rawat said, "I feel it is time to wage a decisive war against terrorism and Pakistan."

Former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the party's Mahanagar president Umesh Aggarwal state BJP president Ajay Bhatt also paid tribute to the martyr.

A huge crowd followed as the coffin carrying Sandeep's body wrapped in the national flag came out on the streets and was being taken to his Navada residence in the city.

For the last rites, the mortal remains were then taken to Haridwar and consigned to flames after a guard of honor by the police at the Kharkhari cremation ground.
