Divine Learnings from the ‘Sage of Kanchi’ Mahaswamiji Sri Chandrasekharendra : Spirituality is Heritage of India

New Delhi, August 10, 2017: India is famous for the culture and traditions that the Indian heritage makes one inherit and grow with. Our land is also renowned for the religious practices and the depth of knowledge that the Indians possess regarding spirituality and divinity.

Since the ancient ages, many saints have enlightened the Indian souls and helped India becoming a "holy land." One such man was Mahaswamiji Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati. He was famously known as the "sage of Kanchi", one of the "Jagadgurus" of the Hindu religious and divine institution 'Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham' at Tamil Nadu in Kanchipuram.

The 'sage of Kanchi', is known to have reformed and converted a leader of the Indian National Congress into Hinduism. In his youth, he actively took part in the politically driven conditions and spiritually enthralled many souls.

His sayings are not only popular even today but quite relevant also for the present-day society. His quotes are famous as 'divine words of Periyava' and those include the following-

  • "When one involves himself in social service, it enhances his own inner refinement"
  • "Universal and unconditional love and courteous behavior is the key to becoming a true social-worker"
  • "It is only hypocrisy to ignore one's duties and responsibilities and then claim himself to be helping the humanity"
  • "It is crucial to be aware of one's own limitations"
  • It is impossible to "walk away" from the fettering embrace of 'Karma'
  • "In order to uplift oneself, one must devote himself to God and inculcate the ideologies of 'Dharma' through self-discipline"
  • "There exists an unseen world beyond the visible familiar world of ours"

This holy man lived a century, dedicating his life and teachings to spirituality and the society respectively; and reportedly, breathed his last in the year 1994. His words and his contributions to humanity make the Indians chant his quotes till date.
