World Environment Day: 5 Plants to Purify Your Indoor Air Quality
World Environment Day has been celebrated in over 100 countries on June 5 every year since 1974. United Nation primarily spreads awareness about the challenges and the need for environment conservation on this day and UN Environment Programme (UNEP) organizes events annually on this day to encourage worldwide awareness for the protection of the environment. The theme for World Environment Day 2020 is "Bio Diversity" and is described as "both urgent and existential" by the Environment Day committee on its official website.
"The emergence of COVID-19 has underscored the fact that, when we destroy biodiversity, we destroy the system that supports human life. By upsetting the delicate balance of nature, we have created ideal conditions for pathogens – including coronaviruses – to spread," says the World Environment Day website.

The lockdown which was imposed in the wake of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has positive some consequences that could help combat air pollution in India. An NDTV article suggests that in April, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported 46 per cent reduction in PM2.5 levels and 50 per cent depletion in PM10 concentrations in Delhi – one of the most polluted capitals in the world. As lockdown restrictions are eased and the world resumes back to work, we need to ensure that the air we breathe, remains clean so that we can lead a healthy life.
