Dev Mishra of Dhakjari village in Bihar's Begusarai district was a competitor on India's Got Talent, a prominent Indian reality program. His incredible moonwalk wowed the judges on the first day of the audition as his moonwalk was not the type that you see every day. He has no legs and does the traditional moonwalk with his hands!

Dev's early life
Dev was just six months old, the youngest of three siblings when his father died following a protracted illness. His therapy consumed all of his mother's savings. Despite all the hardships, her mother made sure that none of her children slept empty stomach. In class 8, the financial problem in Dev's household drove him out of school and compelled him to take up odd jobs.
The event that turned Dev's life upside down
With all the existing problems in his life, Dev was in for a day that would change his life forever. Dev was on his way to Hyderabad to work for a contractor on June 1, 2015. It was just another day, and he was getting ready to catch the train from Barauni station when he felt a powerful shove from the enraged mob behind him. The train was so close that he had no time to get himself together.
The train slashed through his legs, severing them from his thighs. He yelled in agony for three hours and pleaded for help, but no one came forward. A second train ran over his legs before he could even determine what to do. He exclaimed that he had never felt so helpless in my life.

He arrived at the hospital six hours after the accident, thanks to the assistance of a friend. He'd lost a lot of blood throughout that period. He was in the hospital for about a month, and his mother did everything she could to help pay for his treatment. The doctors had lost all hope, but to their surprise, he survived.
After the devastating incident, Dev's brother told him something that gave him more pain than his physical suffering during the most difficult period of his life, when he needed his family's support the most. "He told me that whether I was dead or alive, I would have to rely on him. He left me and my family because he didn't want to cause any issue."
Dev made the decision to not ponder on it and instead create something of his life.
Another turning event in his life
Dev traveled to Jaipur after hearing that he may receive better treatment there. Every doctor he saw warned him that he wouldn't be able to receive prosthetic legs because his limbs were too short.
"I realized the city of dreams was my last chance in a bleak world. Nobody leaves this place empty-handed. So, I started my journey from Kurla station. I didn't know many people. I lived off alms, slept on the side of the road near Carter Road, ate leftovers, and slept hungry most of the time."

His encounter with jewelry designer Farah Khan Ali transformed his life again, but this time for the better.
Dev considers Farah to be his angel. He gives the credit of his success to her as she got him a tricycle and even spent lakhs to get Dev's prosthetic legs.
Dev's dancing carrier
Making the most out of the circumstance, Dev began working out to strengthen his upper body, as he carried practically all of his body weight in his hands.
Vishal Paswan, a dance instructor, saw him during one of these practice sessions 10 months ago. He revealed that Vishal Sir began teaching him to dance but never charged a fee. He encouraged him and made him believe in himself.
Dev appeared in a number of theatrical events before deciding to compete for India's Got Talent. Dev believes that he is a hard worker and through his abilities, he wants to give his mother a pleasant life who continues to live in the village. The sheer determination and positive attitude of Dev inspire us to never give up on life.
