Thanjavur, previously Tanjore, is the capital of the Chola Kings, an ancient Indian kingdom. It is located in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. R. Rambhau Swami is a Hindu Monk from Thanjavur. The Fire Yogi, as the name implies, genuinely sits and lies on burning inferno and meditates in his own unique method.

Shri Rambha lives a down-to-earth life spending his days praying, meditating, and researching old books, giving counsel, and always remembering his guru (master). Since 1975, he has consumed two drops of water as a part of his regular prayer ritual, one banana, and one glass of milk twice a day. He only sleeps three hours a day and is still quite alert and energetic.

Sri Rama Nandendra Saraswati, his master, was a yogi known for performing unexplained miraculous things as well as intellectual work in Sanskrit and Indian Classical music. He passed on his practice to the youthful Rambha when he died at the age of 99.

Rambha Swami spends his life contemplating his Gods and Guru, far from the materialistic bonds and illusions of modern civilization. In 1961, he commenced his learning under the supervision of his Guru, devoting his life to the quest for wisdom and spirituality. He started his work as a scholar at Tanjore's world-renowned research library.

For him, a fire ritual is a form of worldwide healing prayer. This yogi welcomes the blazing flames as a gesture towards global wellbeing at a period when the globe is in fires of chaos, social and communal strife. His stated objectives are to help others flourish, to enhance worldwide prosperity, and to promote universal happiness.

Rambha Swami's rituals and ceremonies are for the benefit of all people, hence he literally crosses religious lines. Once, when performing a fire ritual in Malaysia, individuals of many faiths gathered to seek his blessings.

He is a master of Pranayama, an ancient technique for regulating the breath that allows you to access the latent universe's power known as Kundalini.

Shri Rambhau Swami has given himself to the ritual flames, lying within the inferno, and has always returned unharmed. Every time he finishes his Fire Ritual, he rises with hardly any indication of the flame's influence. Unlike a plethora of magicians and wizards, he does not use his abilities for profit. He has no wants and expectations from those around him.

Despite multiple clinical trials undertaken by top-notch academic institutions and organizations in the United States, The Fire Yogi continues to be an enigma to scientific knowledge. He shows traits that appear to defy science and even nature rules. He has complete control over the spiritual mysteries.

According to Rambha Swami, pleasure and pain exist only when the mind is bonded to the body; when the mind is detached and completely focused on the supreme force, flames do not affect. He says "You are fire, and fire is you."
