SAI approves extension of national camp for 117 athletes

The Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (Patiala), Laxmibai National College of Physical Education (Thiruvananthapuram), SAI National Centre of Excellence (Bengaluru), Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (New Delhi), and Usha School of Athletics are hosting national camps for 64 male and 53 female athletes (Balusery).

Shaili Singh, the silver medallist in the long jump at the World U20 Championships, is the youngest of the campers at 17 years old. The most experienced athlete among the campers is Seema Punia, who earned a bronze medal in the discus throw at the World Junior Championships in 2002 and has finished on the podium in each of the previous four Commonwealth Games.

Neeraj Chopra, the gold medallist in the javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics, is training in Chula Vista, California, with coach Dr. Klaus Bartonietz.

Athletes include:Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Arokia Rajiv, Amoj Jacob, Noah Nirmal Tom, Naganathan Pandi, Harsh Kumar, Ayush Dabas, Vikrant Panchal, Muhammed Ajmal, Sarthak Bhambri, Kapil, Rajesh Ramesh, Karanpreet Singh, and Rashid competed in the 400m.

Manjit Singh, Ajay Kumar Saroj, Anakesh Choudhary, Krishan Kumar, Rahul, Sashi Bhushan, Abhinandan Sundaresan, Ankit, and Mujmil Ameer won the 800m and 1500m respectively. Abhishek Pal, Dharmender, Karthik Kumar, and Amit Jangir (5000m and 10,000m)Avinash Sable, Shankar Lal Swami, Balakishan, Md. Nur Hassan, and Atul Poonia competed in the 3000m Steeplechase.

Ayyasamy Dharun, MP Jabir, Santhosh Kumar, Dhaval Mahesh Utekar, and Thomas Mathew competed in the 400m hurdles.
Manish Singh Rawat, Sandeep Kumar, Ram Baboo, Vikas Singh, Eknath, Juned, Suraj Pawar, and Amit Khatri participated in the race walk.Nirmal Sabu, Muhammed Anees, Yugant Shekhar Singh, and TJ Joseph compete in the long jump.U Karthik, Abdulla Aboobacker, Eldhose Paul, and Gaily Venister Devasahayam compete in the triple jump.

Anjali Devi, M R Poovamma, VK Vismaya, Priya H Mohan, V Revathi, V Subha, Summy, Rachna, Nancy, R Vithya, Dandi Jyotika Sri, and Jisna Mathew finished first and second, respectively, in the 400m.

Lili Das, PU Chitra, Chanda, and Chatru Gumnaram competed in the 800m, 1500m, and 5000m events.Kavita Yadav won the 5000m and 10,000m races.Sudha Singh is a marathon runner.

Parul Chaudhary and Priti Lamba compete in the 3000m Steeplechase.

Bhawna Jat, Priyanka Goswami, Sonal Sukhwal, Ramandeep Kaur, and Ravina took part in the race walk.Shaili Singh, Renu, Ancy Sojan, and Pooja Saini competed in the long jump.

Manpreet Kaur Sr., Abha Kathua, and Kachnar Choudhary competed in the shot put.

Seema Punia, Kamalpreet Kaur, Nidhi Rani, and Sunita throw the discus.Annu Rani, Kumari Sharmila, and Sanjana Choudhary competed in the javelin throw.Manju Bala and Sarita R Singh throw a hammer.

Purnima Hembram, Mareena George, Sonu Kumari, and Kajal compete in the heptathlon.
