DRDO flight tests Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile

Officials claimed the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested the Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) final delivery variant on Tuesday. The anti-tank missile was developed in-house and is a low-weight, fire-and-forget missile that is launched from a man-portable launcher with infrared sight. The last impact event was videotaped, and the test successfully confirmed the minimal range.

According to a spokesperson, the current test was conducted to demonstrate consistent performance for the minimal range, and all mission goals were satisfied.

For on-board control and guidance, the missile incorporates a miniaturised infrared imaging seeker and modern avionics.
In previous test runs, the missile's performance was proved for the maximum range.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh complimented the DRDO on the anti-tank missile's continuous performance, calling it a crucial step toward Atmanirbhar Bharat in the development of modern technology-based defence systems. Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, commended the team on the missile's good performance during the test. (IANS/PR)
