Dr. Vimal Patel, President of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), Indiana Chapter was honored as the Interfaith Ambassador of the Year at a celebratory banquet with over 350 people in attendance, including the Mayor of Indianapolis, at the historical Union Station in Downtown Indianapolis. The award was given by the Center for Interfaith Cooperation and Dr. Patel was the first Hindu to have received that award.

This event held on Sunday, Mar 13,  was an opportune time to reveal 'Darshana: a glimpse into Hindu civilization', which is a nationwide traveling poster exhibition. This poster exhibition consists of 25 posters filled with carefully curated information on Hindu history, culture, and contributions.

"What I wish is everyone could witness this. This is the way to witness the incredible benefits of Hinduism to our culture, including science, mathematics….it is a way for us to broaden our understanding of the world. I wish all participants could go through this incredible display."

  • Brian Shivers, Chair,

Center for Interfaith Cooperation

Some attendees were already quite knowledgeable and many were absolute novices to the topic of Hindu Dharma. Yet, each one of them confessed that they learned something, from this exhibition, that they had not known before. Those who loved math and science were particularly piqued to learn more about contributions of Hindu Dharma to these topics.

Darshana is set to be launched in April, 2022, in 171 cities within the USA. The launch event aims to introduce this exhibition to civic leaders, law enforcement officers, officers of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion bodies of school districts and corporate institutions and  is particularly interested in inviting second generation Hindus.

This is an opportunity to deepen awareness of Hindu culture and its contributions to society, creating an environment of harmony, coexistence while pursuing Universal Oneness.
