Kahwa is a Kashmiri tea containing cinnamon, cardamom, and saffron as flavourings. It's a refreshing drink to have on a chilly winter day but it's also good year around. Kashmiri Kahwa Tea provides several health benefits and can be an excellent addition to our diet.

It is often consumed after meals since it helps in digestion while also providing energy. Saffron, which is rich in vitamin B12, is used in this tea which helps strengthen immunity and keep the body's defensive mechanisms in control.

Kahwa green tea (1 ½ teaspoons), saffron (pinch of strands), cinnamon (1 piece- 2 inch), cardamom (2 pods), and almonds are the ingredients needed to make kahwa. In alternative to almonds, pistachios and cashew nuts can also be used. If you can't find Kahwa green tea, you can use any other green tea. Sugar, according to taste can be added if you would like to make it a bit sweet.

Step by step recipe (4 cups):

  • In a saucepan, add 4 cups of water to boil.
  • While the water is boiling add saffron, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom.
  • Let the ingredients boil for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the green tea to the boiling water, stir and then turn the heat off.
  • Allow a minute for the tea to steep.
  • Meanwhile, divide the almonds and saffron evenly between 4 cups.
  • Pour boiling kahwa over the garnish and serve immediately

(Add sugar if you want your kahwa tea sweetened.)
