Hunting for natural remedies for asthma? We feel you! This is a condition where you are affected by breathing problems. You may also experience other symptoms such as shortness of breath or a whistling or wheezy sound in your chest when you are trying to breathe. Asthma is a chronic condition that causes inflammation and narrows down your bronchial tubes. Bronchial tubes are passageways that let in and lets out air from the lungs. You can have an asthma attack if you are surrounded by substances that act as triggers. And if you do not remove the patient from the trigger-infested atmosphere the conditions turn severe.
The condition of asthma can affect anyone and it runs in the family. It is said that asthma cannot be cured but the condition can be controlled. However, there are natural remedies for Asthma which can bring your conditions under control.
Asthma is of two types, allergic (which results because of an allergen) and non-allergic triggers such as stress, illnesses such as cold or flu-like condition. Intensive exercise, or exposure to extreme weather, irritants in the air or certain medications).
Natural Remedies for Asthma

- Mustard oil

Use the mustard oil steam treatment. Here is how you can do it,
- Boil a pot of water until it reaches a boiling point.
- Add a few spoons of mustard oil and caraway seeds to this mixture.
- Inhale the steam.
Cover your head with a towel. Steaming with mustard oil helps dilate the bronchial tubes and helps you breathe especially when you are in the middle of an asthma attack.
2. Eucalyptus oil
Another great treatment for asthma is the eucalyptus oil. Just follow the steps to get relief from the asthma symptoms.
- Drop a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil into a bowl of boiling water
- Inhale the steam.
- This opens up nasal blockages which facilitate easy breathing.
Figs score high in the list of asthma treatments. It clears up the phlegm. Try this method for quick relief.
- Soak dried figs overnight in water.
- Eat soaked figs first thing in the morning.
- Don’t throw away the residual water, instead drink it up.
Ginger is great for your health and body, ginger offers a cure for most ailments. Most nutritionists label ginger as a superfood. It is particularly effective in treating asthma. Follow this remedy for quick relief from chronic asthma.
- Make a concoction with equal quantities of ginger, honey, and pomegranate.
- Drink the potion it at least 2-3 times a day.
Caffeine is a great way of treating asthma. You can clear the nasal passage as you continue to breathe. If you do not prefer coffee, you can also have black tea. But don’t overdo it and have more than 3 cups a day.
6. Omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are particularly effective for inflammatory conditions. Fish oil capsules or plant-based Omega-3 fatty acids, helps you combat conditions such as depression, heart disease, and seasonal allergies. It is helpful to treat just about every condition including heart disease, depression, seasonal allergies, also asthma.
7. Evening primrose oil
The primrose oil contains a fatty acid known as (GLA). This is anti-inflammatory in nature. And has been used for treating asthma for ages.
Another very popular cure for asthma is honey. It is indeed beneficial. Even inhaling a jug full of honey can help make breathing easy.
9. Lemon and amla
A glass of lemon water has an incredible effect on your health. Among other things, it can also help treat asthma patients. Make the lemon water mixture more potent by adding honey and 5 grams of amla powder. You can have this every night for quick relief.
10. Belly breathing technique
This technique is actually pretty useful in treating a number of disorders. Maximize the air distribution in your lungs with this treatment. You can do this either sitting down or lying down. Now, take a deep breath in and a deep breath out. Remember you have to take it slow. Fill your belly with air as you breathe in and then when you breathe out, your abdomen should remain flat. At a count of four breathe in then, hold it for 4 seconds and finally breathe out for six seconds. Your exhalation should be longer than your inhalation.
11. Buteyko breathing exercise
This technique aims to regulate your breathing volume or breathing volume. For this, you have to sit up, mind and body relaxed. Focus on your breathing. Close your eyes and try to look up. Now breathe out gently through the nose and breathe out through your closed mouth. Ensure your breathing is slow and controlled. Breathe out till you empty your lungs of all air. Hold the breath as long as possible and then return to natural gentle breathing.
12. Pursed lip breathing technique
This technique is effective in treating asthma. During this breathing technique, the air is entrapped in your lungs, this helps eliminate the air and aids in the breathing process. Here, you inhale through your nose and then breathing out through the pursed lips, almost as if you are whistling.
Stay regular with these breathing techniques and follow the above-mentioned treatment procedures. These natural remedies sometimes help treat asthma better than any over-the-counter medication and it comes without any side-effects. A few simple home remedies are all you need to combat asthma.

"And to accept on behalf of a grateful nation - you can come my dear - ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty, may you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation." Rihanna, who was born in the St Michael parish of Barbados, found fame in 2005 after being spotted by a record producer and has since gone on to become one of the most successful female artists of all time with sales of over 250 million and recently reached billionaire status through her Fenty beauty brand.
The Prime Minister continued in her speech: "Commanding the imagination of the world through the pursuit of excellence, her creativity, her discipline, and above all else, her extraordinary commitment to the land of her birth. "Having satisfied that, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty has given service to Barbados which has been exemplified by visionary and pioneering leadership, extraordinary achievement and the attaining of the highest excellence to the Government of Barbados." It comes after a historic move for Barbados, which has become a republic after almost 400 years and welcomes its first president, Sandra Mason, after removing Queen Elizabeth as head of state. Have you ever faced eye redness? Or have witnessed blurry or foggy vision? Or experiencing halos around lights? Or nausea and vomiting are very common for you. You may well be suffering from Glaucoma which needs immediate attention.
Glaucoma is the second most common causes of blindness worldwide, according to a report by World Health Organisation (WHO). Typically, it occurs in people with over the age of 60 however it can occur at any age. It is also estimated that globally 79.6 million people are affected with glaucoma, half of them being Asian population. While in India, around 11.9 million people suffer vision impairment and out of which 1.2 million cases are due to Glaucoma. It is a growing concern for the population in India. Even after these high numbers, the enormous majority remains undiagnosed, and untreated. More than 90 percent of cases of Glaucoma remain undiagnosed.

Glaucoma is a condition that damages the nerve of the eye. The increased pressure in the eye, which is known as intraocular pressure, can damage the optic nerve which is responsible for sending images to the brain. If the damage worsens, glaucoma can cause permanent vision loss or even total blindness within a few years. According to WHO, there are different kinds of glaucoma, though, the two most common are, primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), having a slow and slow and asymptomatic onset, and angle-closure glaucoma (ACG), which is less common, yet more acute. Hence, it is important for everybody over the age of 40 years to have a regular eye check-up.
The eye disorder may be treated with the help of eye drops prescribed by Ophthalmologist. There are various options available to lower intraocular pressure to the desired level. Depending upon the need of the patient, doctor may recommend combinations of eye drops, but it is of utmost importance to use the drops on a regular basis. However, consulting a specialist should be the first priority if diagnosed with glaucoma, but most of the population will first opt for home remedies then will consult chemists' shops for medicines and if the issue is still not resolved then will they think of a specialist. There is a need to modify the mindset of the people and when it comes to sensory organs zero negligence rule should be followed.

Awareness is the key to managing Glaucoma better. The need of the hour is to include eye care as part of the health check-up. Timely detection of Glaucoma will lead to proper medication and diagnosis by an Ophthalmologist. Talking about prevention, early detection will help in managing glaucoma before significant damage occurs. Glaucoma can be because of genetics as well hence knowing the family's eye history is important. Regular and moderate exercise may help prevent glaucoma by reducing eye pressure also eye drops can significantly reduce the risk that high pressure will progress to glaucoma.
Also, there are few home remedies that anyone can follow to avoid glaucoma. Consuming healthy food, using eyewear, avoiding head-down position, keeping oral hygienic, and protecting eyes from sunlight are a few of such remedies. One should be mindful of the fact that Glaucoma is irreversible blindness and awareness can help us in fighting it. Depending on the condition an Ophthalmologist may prescribe an oral medication or may suggest therapies.
