On the outskirts of Dhanoa village in Ajnala subdivision near the Attari border, a tip about the smuggling of weaponry and ammunition from across the border led to the seizure.
"On a particular alert, our teams conducted a search operation and recovered a suspicious parcel in fields," STF Assistant Inspector General Rashpal Singh told the reporters.
The envelope appeared to be transporting a shipment of narcotics at first. When explosives were detected, a bomb disposal team was dispatched. The packet included a 5-kg IED as well as Rs 1 lakh.
