Giving a presentation is indeed a very tough job but here are a few tips to help you out. Pixabay

Nervous about your presentation and seminar? Giving a presentation as an assesment is indeed a very tough job. Most of us would spend days stressing about it even if we’re prepared. But it isn’t as tough a job as it sounds. All you need is the skill to speak and express yourself clearly.

Here are a few things you need to keep in mind while giving a presentation:

Be Well Prepared

You can never present your topic without a lot of primary and secondary research. You need to be well-prepared so that you do not give a chance to your teacher to question you. You need to think of all the questions that might be asked and must have ready-answers for the same.
You also need to know your audience to deliver your content in style. Structuring your presentation is crucial so that you do not leave the audience confused. Do not make your it disorganised, dull and unclear.

Be Creative

Prepare your powerpoint presentation in a way which looks intriguing and creative. It should capture the attention of the audience. Make it colourful, add animations and transitions. Use bigger fonts. Make sure you use bulletin points because nobody is interested in reading paragraphs.
Also, if your teacher permits, you may write up a jingle or a small song related to your topic to sing before/after your presentation. Creatives always help you get extra marks.

Dress up Properly

Always remember that nobody would want to go ahead with your work if you yourself do not look presentable. Put on your clean and ironed formal clothes and wear polished shoes. If you look shabby then you will definitely lose marks.
Wear light coloured-shirts and dresses. Bright coloured clothes aren’t considered to be formal enough.

Be Confident

Before you start presenting, greet the audience with a confident smile on your face. Delivering your content in a flow is very important and try not to stammer. If at all you become anxious or nervous, remember to take deep breaths. Do not speak in a monotonous manner as you do not want your audience to get bored of you and start using their mobile phones.
Make sure you do not stand in front of the screen to cover it. Use visual aids during your presentation. Also, do not forget to make eye contact with the audience.

Other tips for a good presentation are:

  1. Do not exceed your time limit.
  2. Practice a few times in front of the mirror.
  3. Answer the questions properly.
  4. Do not use filler words like “ummm”.
  5. Be interactive.

"The discovery of each new world provides a unique glimpse into the physics that play a role in planet formation," said lead author Jon Zink, a UCLA postdoctoral scholar.

An international team of astronomers has identified 366 new exoplanets, using data from the NASA Kepler Space Telescope's K2 mission. The findings, described in a paper published in the Astronomical Journal, showed a planetary system that comprises a star and at least two gas giant planets, each roughly the size of Saturn and located unusually close to one another.

The discovery is significant because it's rare to find gas giants -- like Saturn in the solar system -- as close to their host star as they were in this case. The researchers cannot yet explain why it occurred there, but it makes the finding especially useful because it could help scientists form a more accurate understanding of the parameters for how planets and planetary systems develop.
