How is the UA done?

Urinalysis is done in three different levels. The lab professional can perform visual examination whereby he sees the clarity and color of the urine. If there is any trace of blood, the color will be dark brown or red. To show that there is kidney disease, the urine might have foam. Cloudy urine suggests any infection. The lab professional carries out microscopic examination of the urine to detect any such sign. What shouldn't be there in the urine under the microscope are Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Crystals and Bacteria. Then, the third level of test on urine is done with the use of chemical-treated thin plastic strip. The chemical in the plastic strip reacts with the urine to change its color. If there is change in color of the urine or if the stick reacts to the urine, it implies acidic urine suggesting kidney ailment. Any of the following occurrences is the sign of disease:

 When protein is found to be more, it implies that kidneys are not efficient. The function
of kidney is to eliminate waste from the body. Higher protein suggests kidney is not
working.
 high sugar content suggests diabetes
