Gabbard calls for Obama to be prosecuted
Tulsi Gabbard, United States Director of National Intelligence, has made allegations against the Obama-led administration for creating and circulating the “Russian Hoax” during the 2016 presidential election. Gabbard stated that she possesses strong evidence against Obama and his top officials, alleging that the intelligence community at the time fabricated information about Russian collusion with Donald Trump and spread a hoax that Trump won the 2016 US presidential election because of Russian interference.
Gabbard accused Barack Obama and his associates of steering a “years-long coup” against President Trump. The documents, declassified on July 18, regarding the alleged Russian interference, indicate a “treasonous conspiracy” committed by Obama and his officials, according to Gabbard. She further said, “Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people and enact what was essentially a years-long coup, with the objective of trying to usurp the President from fulfilling the mandate bestowed upon him by the American people.”
What Are the Allegations
According to Tulsi Gabbard's report, the information released prior to the election regarding potential Russian interference contradicted the post-election consensus issued by the Intelligence Community (IC). She claimed that earlier intelligence reports stated Russian interference was unlikely.

However, in January 2017, the United States Intelligence Community published an assessment stating that Russia had attempted to interfere in the 2016 election by hacking and disseminating disinformation via social media. The assessment concluded that the Russian effort was aimed at damaging Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Gabbard said in another post on X, adding that “everything changed after President Trump made a landslide victory in the elections.”
In a memo released by Gabbard regarding the disinformation campaign, it was claimed that “Deep State officials in the IC began leaking blatantly false intelligence to the Washington Post … claiming that Russia used ‘cyber means’ to influence ‘the outcome of the election."
Tulsi Gabbard further demands an investigation on everyone who has been involved in this hoax, she says, “No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, to ensure nothing like this ever happens again. The American people’s faith and trust in our democratic republic and therefore the future of our nation depends on it.”
Trump addressed Gabbard’s claims on July 22, 2025, during his meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the Oval Office. “He’s guilty. This was treason. This was every word you can think of. They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election. They did things that nobody’s ever even imagined, even in other countries,” said President Donald Trump.
Trump later posted an AI-generated video on his Truth Social account, depicting two FBI officers arresting Barack Obama. The video shows Obama being taken into custody and later appearing in jail wearing an orange jumpsuit. [Rh/VS]
