Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh spent time with Gajendra Singh's distraught family and assured them that their concerns will be addressed by the Delhi government.

During the meeting, family members of the farmer asked for a martyr status for Gajendra Singh and employment to a member of his family from the Delhi government.

"I will convey these to Arvind Kejriwal. The matter will be considered most sympathetically by the Delhi government," Sanjay Singh said. It was the first meeting between AAP leaders and the victim's family .

Earlier in the day, making a departure from the usual attitude of politicians in the country, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal apologized for not stopping his speech during the incident.

Kejriwal also regretted his decision to make a speech after the gruesome incident took place.

In an interview to news agency ANI, the Delhi Chief Minister said, "I think I was wrong, I should not have spoken. I didn't think of it at that time. I apologize if I hurt anyone."
