Entrepreneurship to the side-lined: “Stand Up India”
By Megha Sharma
Dalits and women both have been considered the most marginalized sections. The social history of India registers this side-lining, of undergoing the atrocities by them for centuries. Even after the different movements that took place not only in a verbal action, being in the books, but also a strong rejection had been seen of any authority. The Prime Minister, Narender Modi, has also now taken an initiative to add up to this. The question one needs to ask is what is actually the way out of this kind of submission which is internalized? The movements saw an overcome from these submissions but what really needs to be done is to give these people an assurance of self-development. This scheme of providing entrepreneurship to the side-lined is thus a huge step in the development of one and all irrespective of their gender or caste.

various motto of the scheme

The PM launched this scheme in the Noida NCR region on Tuesday which will be converting "job-seekers into job-creators. This scheme is going to transform the lives of people from Dalit and tribal communities." He asserted that "Dalits and poor people if given an opportunity can bring in various reforms in the country. That's my vision for Stand up India". The proposal provides a loan from 10 lakh to 1 crore, from over 1.25 lakhs branches of banks, to all these job-creators. This gives these people the liberty to work for their own. This scheme will give the entrepreneur tag to almost 2.5 lakh of the Indians.

With the air of Dalit empowerment, from a recent case of student Rohit Vemulla and the debates over the reservation system prevailing in the country, this event took place commemorating Jagjivan Ram, a former agriculture and defence minister, on his birth anniversary. Modi acknowledged his importance in the governance of India and said "It is unfortunate that contribution of such people is being ignored."

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi taking a ride on E-Rickshaw

The most interesting of this proposal was his flagging off of 5100 e-rickshaws that are provided by the Bhartiya Micro Credit (BMC) under the Pradhanmantri Mudra Yojna. They will be given to non-owners of rickshaws and will be beneficial for the poor. He asserted the significance of such an action he stated "There were few autowalas who did not own their own rickshaws and half of what they earn were spend on rent." He even booked the first e-rickshaw from Ola cabs. Modi's vision was addressed in his Independence Day speech which will come into force from the 15th April, 2016. This launch programme observed presence of other ministers like Arun Jaitley (Finance Minister), Union Minister for Culture and Tourism and Union Minister of State for Finance.
