Beijing, April 2, 2017: The Chinese government on Sunday urged US President Donald Trump to analyse the trade deficit with Beijing on the basis of international standards, after he signed two executive orders to combat trade abuses of other countries.

on Friday, Trump ordered the Commerce Department to carry out what he called the first major review of the US trade with the world to uncover practices that harm US workers and factories, which was seen as a clear message to China, which leads the list of countries having a large trade deficit with the US, Efe news reported.

"Both countries are well aware of the reality, the cause and possible impact of the US trade deficit with China," China's Ministry of commerce said in a statement in response to Trump's decision.

The move came just a week before his first face-to-face meeting with the Chinese President Xi Jinping at his house in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, on April 6 and 7, which, according to Trump, is going to be very difficult.

Despite the US President's remarks, the Chinese authorities are striving to highlight the advantages of the relationship between the two countries.
