Within days of his arrest, Khalistani extremist Inderjeet Singh Gosal was granted bail in Canada. Earlier on September 19, 2025 Gosal along with two others was arrested for unauthorized possession of firearms.

Soon after the bail, a video was shared on X, showing him leaving the Ontario Central East Correctional Centre. In the video, he declares “India, I'm out to support Gurpatwant Singh Pannun to organise the Khalistan referendum on November 23, 2025. Delhi banega Khalistan (Delhi will become Khalistan).”

Gosal's Arrest

On September 19, 2025, officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop near Highway 407 and Harmony Road in Oshawa. During the stop, police intercepted Inderjeet Gosal along with Jagdeep Singh (41) from Pickville, New York, USA, and Arman Singh (23) from Toronto. All three were taken into custody.

Gosal along with others was charged under Canada’s Criminal Code with multiple offences, including careless use of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized firearm possession.

The timing of Gosal’s arrest aligned with a high-level meeting between India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his Canadian counterpart Nathalie G. Drouin on September 19, where both sides pledged closer cooperation on counter-terrorism and transnational crime.

India Raises Concern Over Khalistani Extremist Groups

From the start, India has repeatedly raised concern about Khalistani extremist groups operating from Canada. New Delhi has warned Ottawa multiple times that outfits like SFJ pose a serious security threat, but these warnings have largely been ignored.

Who is Inderjeet Singh Gosal

Gosal, 36, is regarded as a key operative of the pro-Khalistan separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and is considered the right-hand man of SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. He rose to prominence in the movement after the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, British Columbia, in June 2023, and is seen as Nijjar’s successor within the Khalistani network.
