Trouble for Congress as Veerappa Moily faces plagiarism charges

Former Karnataka chief minister and Congress MP M Veerappa Moily is facing serious charges of plagiarism. In an article submitted to a newspaper, Moily has allegedly lifted ideas from another piece which was published last month.

The newspaper has taken the article off the website as it is investigating charges of plagiarism against him.

The BJP on Saturday slammed the opposition party by stating that it showed that the party is bereft of original ideas.

"Congress party ran out of idea when it was in government. They have no original ideas even when they are in opposition. That is why Veerappa Moily is having to borrow others idea and resort to plagiarism as he struggles to find faults with the Modi government," said Siddharth Nath Singh, member of the BJP national executive, as reported by TOI.

The article referred to the cutting down of social spending by the Modi government.

Congress refrained from commenting on the accusations. However, as reported by TOI, Moily acknowledged that he used a few paragraphs as inputs from another article and admitted that he should have acknowledged the fact in his article.
