US President Donald Trump and his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has been on the books for decades now, yet recent claims regarding the controversial files have created an uproar among his MAGA (Make America Great Again) supporters. Trump has recently called the Jeffrey Epstein case a “Democratic hoax” and a “new scam,”. His comments have sparked widespread criticism from his own support base.
The Trump administration has been called out for withholding some parts of the sex-trafficking files in relation to Jeffrey Epstein and his former girlfriend and associate Ghislaine Maxwell. The Justice Department and FBI have collectively released a brief memo stating that after reviewing the Epstein case thoroughly, there was no client list in the Epstein files and confirmed that the sex offender died by suicide while he was waiting for his trial on sex-trafficking charges in 2019.
After facing backlash from his MAGA supporters, Trump tried to do damage control by saying to the US media that he has asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to release whatever she has on her table vis-à-vis the Jeffery Epstein case. "We've gone through years of it, but she's handled it very well, and it's going to be up to her. “Whatever she thinks is credible, she should release.", said Trump.
After years of speculation over the secrets withheld by the disgraced financier and his island, where more than hundreds of minors were trafficked, many believed that the truth behind the faces who were hiding in plain sight would finally be fully revealed.
During his presidential Campaign in June 2024, Trump was asked by Fox News whether he would declassify the John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King assassination files, and the Epstein files and he at that time responded by saying: “Yeah, yeah, I would.” But this sudden change in stance has instigated backlash and chaos among his supporters. His position on the infamous sex offender has definitely shifted—from commenting that Epstein is “terrific” in a New York Times magazine article in 2002 to calling him a “creep” in 2025.
Donald Trump is evidently trying to shift the focus away from the highly talked about Epstein Island files and its guest list recently. He shut down a question referring to the release of the documents during a cabinet meeting on July 8 by asking why people are still talking about him. “This guy's been talked about for years… We have Texas, we have this. We have all of the things. And are people still talking about this guy, this creep? That is unbelievable," said Trump during the cabinet meeting at the White House.

He wrote in a Truth Social post on July 12, 2025, that his perfect administration is being hurt by some selfish people who are “all over a guy who never dies (referring to the Jeffery Epstein)” He added that some of his Republican supporters have fallen for their (Democrats’) “new scam.”
“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘b------,’ hook, line, and sinker”.
Trump’s sudden disinterest in the Epstein scandal has raised questions—whether his administration is trying to hide something, or have they found something or someone in the Epstein files that cannot be disclosed to the public? He said that the whole case is simply “boring and sordid,” but the skeletons hidden away in the closets of Epstein Island is a story that will never be forgotten completely. [Rh/VS]
