Kashimiri hardliner Masrat Alam will be jailed again: Rajnath Singh

Kashmiri hardliner Masrat Alam is all set to return to jail after Home Minister Rajnath Singh made it clear that those charged with sedition will not be forgiven.

While replying to the questions pertaining  to Alam’s fate, Rajnath Singh said: “Yes he will go to jail… Wait and watch what happens.”

“I want to assure the country, the government will not compromise on the unity and integrity of the country. Sedition will not be forgiven,” he added.

The  first information report (FIR) against Masrat Alam was lodged on April 15 after he led a pro-Geelani rally where people waved Pakistani flags and raised pro-Pakistan slogans.

Earlier, Alam was arrested in 2010 for inciting youth during the unrest in Valley which led to a loss of 112 innocent lives.

New Delhi, July 24, 2017: The government has chosen ten islands in Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar for their holistic development in the first phase of work being done by newly constituted Island Development Agency (IDA), it was announced on Monday.

Smith, Ross, Aves, Long and Little Andaman in Andaman and Nicobar while Minicoy, Bangaram, Suheli, Cherium and Tinnakara in Lakshadweep are among those selected in the first IDA meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here on Sunday after detailed consultations with key stakeholders, a Home Ministry statement said.

The IDA was set-up on June 1 following the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s review meeting.

In the meeting, Rajnath Singh presented the vision for developing India’s maritime economy while preserving the natural eco-system and addressing the security concerns. He also emphasised upon the need for sustainable development of islands with people’s participation.

NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant made a detailed presentation on the current status and the way forward for holistic development of identified islands.

He said that concept development plans and detailed master plans are being prepared for identified islands with principles of sustainability, people’s participation, eco-system preservation and determination of carrying capacity as the guiding principles.

“Such an exercise is being taken up for the first time in the country,” Amitabh Kant said.

IDA Chairman and former Navy chief, Admiral D.K. Joshi (retd.), suggested taking up suitable interventions for sustainable implementation of planned projects.

During the meeting, the progress being made for the formulation of integrated master plans and other matters concerning the islands development were reviewed, the statement said.

“It was also decided that Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Administrator of Lakshadweep Islands will be included as members of IDA,” the statement further said, adding with this meeting, the efforts for holistic development of islands of India received a major boost.

Other members of the IDA including the Cabinet Secretary, Home Secretary, Environment Secretary, Tourism Secretary and Tribal Welfare Secretary also participated in the meeting. (IANS)

Saudi Arabia, Jan 23, 2017: At least 69 Pakistani are being held in Saudi Arabia for their alleged involvement in terror-related offences, local media reported on Monday.

The most recent arrest came on Saturday when Saudi security forces rounded up Fatima Ramadan Balochi Murad along with her Saudi husband from an apartment in al Naseem district after a tip-off, Saudi Gazette reported.

Murad was detained in a security operation launched after a firefight and subsequent blowing up of two suspected terrorists in Jeddah on Saturday. This is not the first time Pakistani citizens have been suspected of perpetuating terror in the oil-rich kingdom.

In July last year, a Pakistani suspect Abdullah Qalzar Khan blew himself up near Solaiman Fakeih Hospital in Jeddah, which led to the arrest of as many as 49 Pakistani residents who were put under interrogation.

Meanwhile, a terror attempt, which involved two Pakistanis — Solaiman Arab Deen and Farman Naqshaband Khan — was also foiled last October in Jeddah. The suspects had planned to carry out blasts in al Jowhara Stadium.

Through its communications portal, the Saudi interior ministry revealed that 5,085 terror suspects from 40 countries were undergoing detention in five intelligence prisons in the kingdom.

“There are 4,254 Saudis detained in intelligence prisons constituting the largest number of suspects,” it said. The Saudis are followed by 282 Yemenis and 218 Syrians. There are three suspects from the US and one each from France, Belgium and Canada.

He described it as the essence of life and said its message could rid the world of the problems, including terrorism, the humanity faced.

He further added to the significance of the holy book by saying, ” Our great saints had given the message of vasudev kutumbakam and treated the entire mankind as their family. Every religion in the world has its own Granth that paves the way to God. But Gita is the only Granth by following which spirituality could be achieved while living in this world.”

According to the PTI reports, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the festival Gita Jayanti is celebrated every year in Kurukshetra. He added to the importance of the event saying, “Last year, the state government had announced celebrating it at the state level under which a three-day programme was held at the district level….Lord Krishna had delivered the celestial message of Bhagwad Gita on this holy land of Kuruksehtra and to spread this message at the global level, we decided to organise Gita Mahotsav at international level under the guidance of Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj…”

To which, Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj added that, ” Gita provided the art of living which is the need of the hour. The world has recognised the significance of Gita and accepted it.”

On the district level celebration last year, one person each from 574 districts of the country had reached Kurukshetra with one Shloka scripted on their traditional dresses.

“They have also brought along soil from their respective districts which would be utilised to make a magnificent idol of Lord Krishna at Jyotisar in Kurukshetra to symbolise unity and integrity of the country. Apart from this, 18,473 school students together recited the 18 shlokas from 18 chapters of Gita and created a world record,” he said.
