NCERT to include literary works from North East in its curriculum: HRD ministry

Soon college students will read literary works from North East along with the region`s history as the University Grant Commission has advised universities to include the same in their curricula. Students will also read about various famous personalities from North East who fought in India`s freedom struggle.

Apart from the North East Zone Cultural Centre`s National Cultural Exchange Programme (NCEP) to create awareness about the culture of the North Eastern Region, students from other parts of the country will also spend time in the region to better understand and appreciate its culture.

North Eastern history, geography and politics is already being touched upon in NCERT books for secondary and senior secondary classes.
