Polavaram irrigation project to be completed by March 2018: Andhra Pradesh Governor

The Polavaram irrigation project will be completed by March, Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said today.

The project, which the governor said would be the life line of Andhra Pradesh, will, irrigate over seven lakh acres in Andhra Pradesh and produce 960 megawatt (MW) of hydel energy.

Apart from Polavaram, the state`s government is also planning to add a significant quantum of wind and solar energy during 2015-16 and build four more ports to make Andhra Pradesh a logistic hub and gateway to South East Asia, Narasimhan said.

The Government is talking to various companies of the countries like Japan, Singapore, US, Australia and others for inviting investments and technology transfer.
